Did not live up to expectations Read many reviews and thought I had picked out a great place to take my wife for Valentines Day. It was just OK. They placed us in the upstairs section of the restaurant even though I stated my wife has trouble with steps (no bathrooms up there either). No offer to move us to the main level. The area we sat in, there was very little walkway for the servers. We had to move our items over, so they would not get bumped (knocked over). The server for the table next to us barely had room to get through. Those particular tables may need to be smaller to allow easier passage.
Title says it all. Food was nothing special and not what I remember from previous trips. Server was less than helpful and didn't smile once. We were having a birthday party for my 16 year old and would have liked to have had a bit more attention than we did. We will not be returning for another party.
Stone Creek is fairly predictable for a good meal, and overall good service. The one thing lacking is the host/hostesses when they are busy and have a wait. The staff seems to have next to no training in managing a reservation or wait list, and I have now experienced this on at least two occasions. We had 7:30 dinner reservations, and we waited over 30 minutes for our table. And we had to pester the hostess twice before a table was "magically" ready the 2nd time. When we first moved to the northern Indianapolis, Stone Creek was our "go to" restaurant. Three successive disappointing dinners prompted this review. On this last occasion my dining partner's rib eye was tough. The manager was very kind but replacement only yielded a second very tough steak. To be fair, the restaurant did not charge for the steak. But we won't be returning.
I have been to this Stone Creek many times with great experiences, but this was not their best performance. The food was still good, but the service and timing was lacking. We had reservations for 7:00. The host never said hello but grumbled and complained the entire time he was helping us. I don't know if it was just the particular night we went, but the service was slow (it wasn't busy in the restaurant) and one of the meals was under-cooked. When the food was sent back to be cooked more, the other items on the plate were then dried out. I wish they would have just fixed a new plate. I would not go back.
