I'd let them know this was a special day -- our 42nd anniversary -- on the Open Table reservation, which they acknowledged upon check-in. We were then seated in the bar instead of dining room. The waitress, while nice, wasn't exceptional and did not note our anniversary -- maybe she wasn't told by the young man at reception. On Saturday my wife, my son and I went to SCZ for dinner. My wife ordered a salad for dinner with no tomato or onion. I ordered a wedge salad and the surf & turf special, and my son ordered a 6 oz filet medium-well, with wedge potatoes. My wife's salad came with onion so we returned it. My son's filet was very rare, really uncooked in the center and he lost his appetite after seeing it so we returned his meal. Both of my choices were very good. 6 of us ordering different items. Worst was the tilapia which was accompanied by mystery brown clumps which we were told was cauliflower. Could not tell whether it was meant to be roasted or pickled. The entire plate was a disaster. Seafood linguine was tasteless scallops and supposedly crab, which was missing in action. Chicken parm had a reasonably good rosa sauce (creamy tomato). Server was OK; just wasn't given anything tasty to serve.
FOod was good even though I asked not have cheese on salad (because I am very allergic to dairy) it came with it. An item on the entree was cooked with butter even when server wrote on food ticket of my allergy. Very frustrating. We ate in the bar (even though we requested a booth through Open Table) at a table where the above lights were flashing constantly as it the paparazzi was there. Very distracting and the wait staff just shrugged it off. Didn't make for a nice romantic dinner.
Trying to be more than it is. Entrees priced at $25 level but not that level of service or quality. Fillet mignon way over cooked so we sent it back, correct the second time but then double charged on bill, they took care of it but that reflects a mechanized operation. In my reservation, I said that my mother-in-law was celebrating her 99th birthday and my wife her 65th birthday. My mother-in-law chose the restaurant because she enjoys the food there. When I checked in no mention was made of the birthday celebration, nor did our overly condescending waiter offer congratulations. not up to normal standards. one entreee served cold and then barely warm. service inconsistent despite restaurant not being very busy.
Service and food not up to par but manager and waiter acknowledge problems and accepted responsibility. Will go there again as we had great experiences in the past.
We had a dinner reservation for 7:15, yet we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, we had to wait a very long time for a waitress to approach our table and to get any drinks. Then, the waitress never brought any bread to our table and so when we were done with our salads, I requested the bread and she apologized. Overall, we had a bad experience due to having to wait 20 minutes to the poor and lengthy time to receive our drinks, food, etc.... We will not return to this location.
