Joel reacted just as expected when I informed him that I submitted complaints to DMV Investigations and the Bureau of Automotive Repair. He's now calling me directly and left a harassing voicemail. Let's just say he wasn't offering to resolve the issue amicably. If "Joel" wants to sell cars, he can get a dealer's license. His offer to "help" my customer find a car has been documented for review by 3rd parties.

Business response:

With over 34 years in the industry, our inspections are full of great knowledge and honesty, Michael. While we may make a mistake here and there, we pride ourselves on being pros when it comes to auto care. If you'd like to further discuss any decisions we made, feel free to reach out directly. Kindly, Joel L., Owner

I had a 180° pre-purchasing vehicle check up. I was happy that the mechanic expressed that it was a bad vehicle to buy. But disliked that he tried to sell me another vehicle from another person. Conflict of interest, Making it hard for me to see if he's being honest. Not sure but not professional.

Business response:

Our goal is to always help out our customers as best as we can, Alberto. We apologize if you got the wrong impression -- we just wanted to assist you and your search for a vehicle. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us directly. Kindly, Joel L., Owner

They do great service but their time frames are terrible I made an appointment for a simple oil change at 10:30am that should take an hour and I'm still waiting for a call it's been 3 hours and I've had to call twice and first they're at lunch the second time it's up on the rack but they made an excuse why my truck still wasn't ready . I made an appointment so it would be done before I had to pick up my husband at 2pm it's now 1:30pm and still haven't heard about my truck

Short story: we brought a car with a weird noise, we were charged 2200 and after a week took the car back with the same problem. Owner even didn't find out during the week what is the problem, he randomly changed parts, it didn't help, but took money for his unprofessional service. The whole situation: 07/09/2020 we (me and my husband) left place at 9th st Upland in two cars (one car is a commercial van), my husband called me right away and told that it is a noise in the back of his car and he doesn't want to take a chance ... read more

I am 61 years old and I have few regrets in my life. One thing I do regret is having gone to Joel's Automotive. I went in on a Monday for a smog check. They failed the vehicle and told me to come back Tuesday. Said the monitors were not ready to read and they could reset the monitors. I came back Tuesday morning. He said they would work on it and call me by lunch. He called at 2:30 and said it needed about $1100 worth of work, all required for truck to pass smog. He told me it would be done Tuesday (smog completed). I em... read more

I paid for an inspection, you upsold me on a ton of stuff I didn't need. The quote was for thousands of dollars. About $5000 for the urgent issues, not to mention the ones that they said we're suggested. I went to a different mechanic that diagnosed my car for free and charged hundreds($660) not thousands to fix the issue that was actually wrong. He then told me about all the things I didn't need done. You(Joels) should really tell people your mechanics work on commission. It's very deceptive not to disclose that up front. P... read more

I brought in my Audi 2011 to have serviced over a year ago. My car has been serviced by the dealership up to this point. I figured try to save money by finding a good mechanic away from the dealership. They initially did some work on the ball joint and shock absorbers and it seemed okay. So I took it back when I notice the engine was running a little rough on idle due to carbon buildup on the valves and the engine had to have the thermostat replaced. They stated that to get to the thermostat it requires quite a bit of work s... read more
