We have lived at whispering lake for over two years. The community has greatly declined but we stayed because our unit was okay and the price was great. When our lease was up this year we were told prices would increase. I honestly thought the increase was fair despite the state of the community. I was fine to pay it and sign on for another year. Concerning ********************************** in ****, **: they use shady practices in their leasing designed to protect themselves as slumlords leaving tenants vulnerable and dependent on lengthy legal battles to get owed compensation for ignored maintenance issues and unhealthy conditions. When you sign a lease with them you are basically waving your rights away under the protection of ** law (Since ** apparently allows this) and they use arbitration as a shield to discourage people from trying to get justice. I decided against renting with live bh properties. I am moving to the ******* suburbs in about a month and this company seems to own a ton of complexes in the area. The only problem was all the hidden fees. I applied for an apartment and after when I received my welcome letter, I was told about the $103 extra a month in fees (like **** for a one bedroom isnt enough). To be such a large corporation, this company is terribly unresponsive to those who make the company what it is... I had multiple negative experiences which drove me away from the apartment community only to be left with a hefty charge of $2700 upon leaving ***********, **********, ******** (mismanagement drove me away at the time frame I left). I cannot stress this enough: do not even consider moving into this apartment complex. Our experience here has been an absolute nightmare. From the moment we moved in, we were plagued by constant leaks from the upstairs neighbor's shower and toilet. The situation was so bad that whenever they showered, our apartment resembled a disaster zone. I lived in Torreyana Apartments for 4 years. when I moved out they added a bogus charge for tub resurfacing even though the tub was in the same condition as when I originally rented it. I disputed the $400 charge and contacted both the management company and the central billing trying to get a review and a resolution to this issue and at a minimum verify that the work had at least been done.
