we went with low expectations, given the reviews here, on zagat and on yelp. we were just looking for a nice outdoor dining experence. the layout of the oar is nice. all along a canal with an active marina. the bar had a live band playing. it was far enough from the dining area as not to be too loud for conversation, but close enough to enjoy. the service was relaxed. what surprised us was how good the food was. outstanding mussels marinara, great raw oysters, a decent wedge salad followed by some excellent entrees. swordfis... read more
Nice tables overlooking the marina. Ordinary seafood. Go for the ambiance, not the food.
The Oar has been our favorite place for lunch on weekends. The food is very good & creative, the service is friendly & attentive, the location is relaxing - a great place to end a streesful week.
as always the people at the oar are wonderfull. mike at the bar is fantastic. and also kristen is is very helpfull and sweet. had a bit of a problem with my food this visit, but kristen took good care of us. i will still highly recommend the oar to all.
The oar steak and seafood grill is a fantastic spot on water in patchogue. The food was excellent and wouldnt hesitate to go back.
The Oar House is always a treat.Perched on the Patchogue river, a good size(not too big), friendly and good food. The problem is finding a table since the place is so popular.
The service was great and the seafood including the Salmon and Chilean Sea Bass was incredible. I would recommend This place to anyone looking for good food and a fine place to eat.
It was the first time I had used OpenTable to make a reservation and I was very satisfied. I got two e-mails that the reservation had been made and a reminder of the reservation.
This is one of my all-time favorite restaurant. Great atmosphere!
