Located in Northern California’s Mendocino County there is a skunk running through the redwood forest, but this isn’t any skunk, it’s the world famous Skunk Train. The California redwoods, pristine coastline, and award winning vineyards are all a part of the landscape of what makes Mendocino County such an amazing place and home to this 131-year-old train.

An excellent ride along a wildlife zone full of life and beauty. While hard to hear for me, the historical highlights were pointed out by dedicated staff who embraced every fact they were able to share and I was able to read about in the many publications about the train. We were fortunate to have ideal weather and stayed outside on the observation car for the entire trip. What added to it for us was the dog friendly nature on the train and at the many stops we made in Ft Bragg. Can’t wait to go back.
It was enjoyable and relax ride.
Highly recommend the rail bikes. 28 Miles and totally worth it. We detailed 4x (which isn’t normal) but still had an amazing time.
Had a great day riding the rails . Guides were great and the stop at the end had drinks and fun for the whole family. Definitely recommend
This was the second time I have ridden the the train and I had a another great experience. I can’t wait to take a ride on the skunk train again.
Yes it was relaxing I would recommend it
It is a relaxing ride, and fun for all ages. Even dogs are allowed, if you travel with yours. A veteran discount is offered. At the final destination in the redwoods is a very nice and large (covered) deck with comfortable seating. It is also a nice hiking spot. The ride is relatively short, we left at 11:30 and returned at 12:45. on some days two trains runs, so it is possible to go out on the first, and return on the second.
Best always-great staff-worth every penny-so enjoyable-beautiful. My friends and I are from Sonoma County and ride all the time. Thanks Skunks
The rail bikes are cool, but it is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for what we got…2.5 miles in, sit/hike for a bit and then back on the bikes. A little disheartening to see the train was a third of the price for basically the same thing. We only paid it cause we justified the cost because it was a new experience, but ultimately not worth it. Take the train, it’s cheaper and you can drink. You can’t on the bikes.
