Located in Northern California’s Mendocino County there is a skunk running through the redwood forest, but this isn’t any skunk, it’s the world famous Skunk Train. The California redwoods, pristine coastline, and award winning vineyards are all a part of the landscape of what makes Mendocino County such an amazing place and home to this 131-year-old train.

Yes it’s a nice little trip into the beautiful redwood trees and to see how the train ran in the past
A wonderful treasure among the redwoods.
It was so much fun. My husband and I have always talk about it. What made it so special this time was that I was able to take my fur babies. I didn’t have to leave them in the trailer. They also enjoyed the ride. It a must thing to do ! Shrunk Train and beyond 😎
We loved the experience of traveling through an estuary and riding on a historic railroad tracks! Skunk train staff narrated historical sites and facts about the nature of the estuary Pudding Creek and the redwoods …both educational and fun. A stop at Glen Blair Junction gave us another source of adventure with a picnic area, games and hiking trails. We traveled in an enclosed car one direction and the open car on the return . we highly recommend experiencing both cars.
We took the Skunk Train this past weekend while on our Anniversary getaway and we had a great time! We would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
This was a cute little train ride. We drove over 9 hours to do this , and we were a bit disappointed at how short the ride really was. However, I’m so glad we did not book the rail bikes (which is what we really wanted to do) because it was the same short ride at an astronomical price. So, that being said, the train was a better option for what you get.
Took my elderly parents and we all had a great time. All the employees were very kind.
Great outdoor adventure through one of the best scenic spots along the CA coast. We’ve lived in Mendocino for 22 years and it never gets old. As a Member of MCMR&HS behind the Depot it feels great to be a part of this unique spot in CA.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent train ride at the Fort Bragg station which is the perfect amount of time. We have been on the Willits ride so we are familiar with the longer version of it. Whatever ride is selected it should be a lot of fun for family and friends. The rest stop in the middle of the redwoods was delightful. This is our 3rd Skunk ride. We usually spend the rest of the the time in Fort Bragg ending a perfect day.
