If you want to wait 20-30 miuntes, be treated like you are from out of town in the most condescending way to be ushered upstairs to overpriced food in the room that feels like it was used to film Being John Malkovich, then this is the place for you. And when you are done buy one of those Rolex watches on the street.
Not sure what happened on this evening since this restaurant is normally great. There was a long line and we couldn't even check in for our reservation. We finally were seated after over 40 minutes which made us rushed since we had an 8 PM show. It was unfortunate because I felt as if there was not enough time to enjoy and wait for a hot entree so we only had antipasti. It was a bad experience. We asked what happened and all we got as a response was a shrug.
Felt very much like a tourist magnet while the food was far less a priority than the decor and the hightened energy. Granted, we did not have the pizza ( the food they are most noted for) but had hoped for a delicious pre-theatre meal. My fish was overcooked and swimming in a bland tomato sauce, my calamaretti appetizer had three tiny pieces of fish amid the salad and my husband's veal was overcooked.
Pity that one of my all time favorite restaurants is going down in quality so rapidly. Have been a regular for decades (Carnegie Hall Subscribers) and have always enjoyed dinner at the Trattoria after the concert. Dinner the last time was hardly edible. Service was fine until the main performer of the concert arrived, we were soon forgotten. Very disappointing!
We had a 6:30 reservation and had to wait in line for 30 minutes before being seated. I highly recommend going there after 7:30 on weekends since the place was empty after all the theater goers left the place.
despite having a pre-Carnegie Hall performance reservation, we had a 20 minute wait where we were constantly being jostled by the wait staff. Once seated, the service was lethargic. Eventually the food arrived and while the antipasti was fine, the entrees were not. In total, a not pleasant way to start the evening.
Chaotic, overbooked. My dish came out cold, it was not a pleasant dining experience.
pre-theatre is a mess!!!!!! There must be a better way. It is too crazy and takes away what could be a bice restaurant. I will never go there again pre-theatre!!!!!!
I didn't enjoy the over-familiar treatment that we received from the wait staff at the Trattoria Dell'Arte. As is very typical of Manhattan Restaurants the tables are too close together and the noise level uncomfortable. The food was very average and my first two selections of wine off their list was unavailable. An altogether average performance.
Trattoria Dell'Arte has a 4.3 star rating with 13,441 reviews.
Trattoria Dell'Arte is closed now. It will open at 12:00 p.m.
