We chose this restaurant as it is close to Carnegie Hall. The food was very good; service excellent. The manager came over to speak to us several times and gave us a lovely gift in remembrance. This is a high energy place, great for groups.
Artists, food lovers, celebrity watchers and theater-goers alike will love this place. The decor is a dramatic blend of old world luxury with a modern twist - large plaster casts of eyes, noses, busts and lips grace the walls, interspersed by smaller paintings with the same themes. We had an amazing time here during a short trip to NY. We found this little gem in tour Rough Guide and what a recommendation it was! Great, friendly service and fantastic food. I recommend the tuna steak which was to die for. Great ambience with a buzzing atmosphere yet still felt romantic. Take note of the interesting art pieces on the walls.
Excellent food, gracious wait staff - but so noisy.
The staff is very friendly, service was excellent. The food is good, the menu for brunch had many great choices. Not for foodies, very old school Italian offering. Portions are large. We passed on dessert but saw several yummy looking cakes on the dessert table. Seating was perfect, we could still have a conversation in a very lively setting. This is a very popular restaurant for visitors or locals who have been coming here for years.
Very good tasting food, adequate portions, not greasy.
The warm welcome I received from the host continued with accomodating & generous service from our server.
Great place, with excellent food and the best cannoli in NYC
Though the restaurant was very busy, the waiters were very attentive. The food was excellent. I had the house specialty veal chop parmigiana. The butterflied the chop, pounded it thin, coated it with a thin breading, sauce and cheese. Truly memorable. My daughter had the Tagglioni spinach pasta with Parmesan crust. Simple but delicious. My wife really enjoyed her liver and onions. My sister's Veal Picatta was delicious. Highly recommended.
