Excellent location, great food, friendly staff
The food was good; their pizza deserves the raves. It was rather noisy, but it felt lively and not annoying. No one stopped by our table to chat and ask how the food was, but I did see some waiters stop by other tables where the pretty ladies were or if they ordered a lot of items.
We were there for Thanksgiving dinner. The Italian dishes were tasty & reasonable - 4 of us ordered from the traditional menu. The Thanksgiving fare was pricey, but GIANT and tasty, except the turkey was dry - 2 of us ordered this. Downstairs was very noisy, upstairs not as noisy. Service was not great - water glasses stayed empty & there was a mix up that one of our orders didn't get put in so one person got the meal after everyone else.
After making reservations, however they did not have us down for a table. Luckily the restaurant was not that busy and they were still able to seat us.
I was here on Thanksgiving Day for their $58 Prix Fixe deal. I chose this place mainly because everywhere else in my neighborhood was charging outrageous amounts for what is essentially a basic meal (i.e. stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. are not exotic). I really doubt Gordon Ramsey at twice the price is twice as good. The food was great and I left completely stuffed (no pun intended). Unlike other reviewers, I found the place to be quiet and the service adequate/unobtrusive. Maybe that has to do with the day I was there so t... read more
Had important business lunch and this was recommended by a friend who works nearby. Asked for good table and got it even though I was unknown to the restaurant. Definitely will go back for dinner. Excellent Italian food and loved the procuitto biscuits and later Choc chip cookies that came around hot from the oven and still on baking sheets. My guest has food allergies and he was well accommodated with no fuss. It was not full the day we were there just prior to Thanksgiving but guessing there is a nice buzz other times.
We now live in FL We have always gone to a Broadway play prior to Thanksgiving and Trattoria Dell'Arte is a part of that tradition. The friendly waiters, service and food have been consistent for the last 10 years.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly and given a choice of a couple of table to sit at (nice touch). The Margherita pizza was rated superior (very thin, crispy). The 101-layer Lasagna was average (rated 5 out of 10). The trout entree was very oily and very salty (rated 4 out of 10). The desserts were good.
It is always a pleasure and everyone is so friendly you don't know you are in NY
