The service was outstanding, particularly since the place was crowded and the noise, cacophonous. We won't go back, because it was too noisy and family-oriented a scene for us, but if diners are looking for good food, a welcome from staff, and don't mind the chaos, this is a nice, well-located, well-managed restaurant.

Great for pre theater dining. Always lively and a bit crowded but fun. One of the diners next to our table did not like her meal and the waiter was very concerned when he took her plate away. He asked if he could bring her something else and she said no thank you. One minute later the manager came over and was very concerned that she disliked her meal and she told him it was too salty. He apologized and immediately took the meal off their bill. I thought they were extremely classy as most restaurants simply take the plate aw... read more

Staff was accommodating about changing our 9pm reservation from 5 people to 7 people. About a 15 minute wait for our table when we arrived. No problem, very friendly front end staff. Brandon was outstanding in welcoming us. Server was rushed but pleasant. Tomato mozzarella appetizer was tiny, expensive and lacking much taste (it's my all time favorite starter so I am particular about this) Main dishes - some were very good-the veal parm especially. Pasta dishes were tasteless. Overall this is a pleasant restaurant, lively an... read more

We'd actually been there before--the last time we went to Carnegie Hall. I was slightly early so made myself known to the hostess while waiting for my husband was slightly late. It took forever for the hostess to get us seated. The maitre d' tried to give us a table upstairs that was next to the bar and smack in the middle of waitstaff traffic despite the fact that at least four other tables were empty... We asked for another table. Indeed, I politely protested/isisted & we finally got a less traffic-island sort of table. Th... read more

We were a party of five crammed into a table for four. Then a party of ten was seated next to us with room for eight. We endured chairs passing over our heads, ten people greeting each other at our table, etc. It is my belief that this restaurant does not provide well for Open Table subscribers, as we have consistently been treated this way over a couple of years. We keep coming back because of its convenience to Carnegie Hall, and the food is always reliable, if somewhat overpriced. Maybe we've finally learned our lesson.

Absolutely the best caponata I've ever had either here or in Italy. The antipasto bar easily rivals its "sister", Fiorello. One of my favorite places.
