It's not fancy, but it's a great place to take your pup. They are very nice and it's easy to get an appointment fairly quickly.
There is not enough good I can say about this vet. I absolutely love them. They are far and away the best animal care our cats have received in Austin. The two times we went were very difficult (otherwise I might not feel so confident reviewing them). Our sweet cat was on his last legs. We had been to another vet several times and simply felt they weren't helping our cat and weren't being direct with us. (However, they did not forget to charge us!) We brought our terminally sick cat to Travis Country and our cat (who at th... read more
Dr. John and the team here saved my cat's life after he ate an old navy flip flop and got an intestinal blockage. It was a pretty emotional time and he really made it the best experience it could be, given the circumstances. I also bring my two dogs here. Dr. John is no longer with Travis Country, but I have also dealt with two of the other vets as well as most of the other techs. They are all great, have excellent bedside manner, and really seem to care about the animals (and their humans too!). I have also never felt like... read more
I have had experiences with all 3 of the vets there ; my dogs (3 dachshunds and 2 Chow/Malemute mix) are very well cared for. The techs there are friendly, caring and know their stuff. Though young, Dr Buys handled my babies with skill and gentleness. She was very patient and answered all of my many, many questions, never once making me feel stupid. There are cheaper vets around, but none better or more caring.
I am a big fan of this Veterinary Hospital. I have a picture of both of my dogs in my profile pictures, so you can imagine what kind of person I am. I am one of those weird Austin dog-people who dog happy hours are made for, although, I refrain from taking my dogs to restaurants after Myko pooped on the carpet at the Driskill...that's another story. Back to Travis Country- I love my dogs like children and would entrust them to just anyone. They are so loved at Travis Country. The nurses (as I like to call the Vet Techs)... read more
The vets here are so wonderful. I've taken my cat (smokey da bear) here for a couple small health issues he's had - which of course are huge and devastating for me because he's my baby - and have always been treated with such care. I'm paranoid and crazy and called them many times for things like him not pooping right away or something and they always take the time out to explain everything to me and talk to me like i'm a friend, not a client.. relating issues with their own pets and other owners experiences like mine. Their... read more
I have been using Dr. John at Travis Country for almost two years now. He is a great vet. I am one of those crazy pet owners....I treat my dog like she is my child. Dr. John is great about it, he understands. I rescued my dog from a local rescue here in Austin, unfortunately she came with a slew of issues. Dr. John has taken the time to figure out exactly what will work best for my dog. I have brought her in right before they were about to close before (with out an appointment) and the staff and Dr. John treated me as ... read more
I have had a mixed experience here. They don't take walk-ins, which I'm not used to, and there can be a wait to get your pet scheduled. The younger vet is very kind and has a great bedside manner with skittish dogs. He also performed a teeth cleaning on my elderly dog and was very communicative about the risks, testing, etc. Another time I got the older vet, and he was fairly brusque, and the treatment he applied to my dog didn't really work (I ended up at the emergency vet). I would say that they're competent overall, but ... read more
Have been taking my paraplegic pup, Archie, here for two years and change now. From talking with other close dog parent friends who have also taken their dogs here, firstly let me just say that a lot of us feel they overcharge by quite a bit (just ask them for a quote for a simple dog teeth cleaning, for example, and you'll fully understand where we're coming from). Most importantly, they have proven to be incompetent for the most menial of tasks that i've only trusted them with, and i've heard horror stories from others' ex... read more
