Holy mackerel!! Wish they had an uncle Giuseppe's in Queens. There is nothing like this at home. Iavarone doesn't compare and there are no big ones in Queens anyway, just small stores. The selection of meats is amazing. Make your own antipasto bar is out of this world. Olives are varied as well. Never wanted to live on Long Island, still don't LOL, just wish Uncle Giuseppe would move to Queens!
This supermarket is awesome!!! Their food from the deli is delicious and they have a lot of imported products from Italy. The only problem that comes with that is that this place can be pricey! Overall, it's clean..staff is friendly..and food is FRESH!
My favorite uncle! My go to market when I'm having a crowd and need to have some great appetizers - Uncle Giuseppe's has a counter full of prepared appetizers that I can just heat and go. Yes people, they ARE expensive - but worth it if you don't have the time or skills to make it yourself. For me, its worth the price to be able to spend the extra time with my guests than to be slaving over all of the appetizers. They have fantastic fresh meats, fish and I buy my Italian sausage here. Specialty places like this really lure me in - I love that you see specialized cheeses, meats, store made ravioli, and a huge selection of special chocolates and candies.... But Uncle Giuseppe's, unfortunately, didn't hit the mark. Mostly because their produce was "old" and the selection limited. I bought a few onions and brought them home, cut into it and had to throw out more than half the outer layers from rotting.. Love Uncle G's food. Had a negative experience with a check out employee last week about sale prices and vowed never to go there again. But when I brought it to the attention of their corporate office, they took my complaint seriously and it was quickly resolved. Very impressed! So their quick action, good products and competitive sale prices will bring me back.
The reason for only 3 stars.....Armando is the nastiest grumpiest old man behind the deli counter. He is not accommodating when he is out of a product or to go and get a fresh batch of raviolis when theres none in the case. I think he is down right "mean". I have given him several chances too as I am a regular at UGs. Everyone else I have dealt with are great. The sausage I found to be too fatty and lacking taste. Italian Market. I am generally not a fan of Uncle Giuseppe's mostly due to the exorbitant prices here. This is tempered by the pretty amazing selection of items that they have for sale as well as the different departments such as the ready to eat foods, the cheeses and the sweet meat and seafood areas. Great atmosphere and specialty foods. An experience as well as an up-scaled food store. Good sales, clean, fresh, the best around. Can be very pricey on many items but the quality is usually worth it.
Not sure how I can actually relate the incredible-ness of this place. Suffice to say that it has everything for everyone...especially if you are Italian! Or just if you love Italian food.
