Bay Cities on steroids!!! Unfortunately we went in a rush to pick up an order, but I couldn't stayed here for hours(sadly, not a joke). What was it that was making run frantically around he store through the aisles, you might ask? Everything!! Here's what I picked up on in 5 minutes: -fresh handmade mozzarella being made through a glass window(yes, I DID take a video) -fresh Italian baked goods(screamed at the huge black and white cookie) -pizza section(they had samples and I was dying to get the eggplant pizza) -fresh cho... read more
Great selection of products. The best butcher around in both Port Jeff and Smithtown, BUT: neither place has anyone that can slice or wrap Prosciutto properly (not a good sign) and very often the prepared food goes bad within a day or two. Do not buy anything that you don't expect to eat immediately. Cheese selection is awesome, but they never last up to the date they are marked. Perhaps the refrigeration isn't as good as it could be, or people walk around with it in their carts and then put it back. Good potential for this... read more
Though it may not be the biggest baddest super markets out there, they do their specialties right. The cheese, the pasta, the desserts, the fishes & shellfish. And their counter area, oh my goodness *drools*. A bit expensive though, docked -1 stars for pricing.
There's no shopping experience quite like it. The prepared foods are amazing, always fresh and high quality. The bakery is top notch and the produce is always fresh. I love going on days when they are giving free samples...I could eat an entire meal from appetizer to dessert. The regular grocery items are overpriced, but why would you go here to buy regular grocery items except for the reason that you're already there. Hosted a dinner party using all prepared foods from here (yes we cheated) and the food was a huge hit.
It was around lunch time, yesterday, when my daughter and I got off the train in St. James, L.I. We went to visit for the day. My brother picked us up at the station and we decided to go straight to Uncle Giuseppe's to get something to eat since we were all hungry. There are aisles and aisles of prepared food to tempt you. It's impossible to go in and leave without buying anything. Smoked mozzarella, bocconcini, sun dried tomatoes, grape tomatoes, sliced pickles, fresh figs, dried figs, grape tomatoes, an assortment of... read more
this place is has the besttttttttt deli!! it's enormous i've never seen so many awesome looking/tasting dishes in my life. its like the best italian restaurant and a supermarket all in one. They have these amazing premade brococli rabe chicken burgers that i just throw on the grill and my kids lovelovelove them!!!! i totally recommend them to anyone
Like North Shore Farms, Uncle Giuseppes' puts Whole Foods (at least the PW branch) to shame. The prepared foods counter is plentiful, freshly stocked with all manner of delicious, ready to eat salads and entrees. You aren't going to find every basic household staple here, but you can certainly satisfy your fancier-food wants and needs.
i'm in love! this is the way it's supposed to be. an italian man cuts gorgeous swordfish steaks straight from a gigantic carcass to the sounds of frank sinatra.... what more can you ask for?? uncle giuseppe's is an amazing shopping experience. everything from the bakery to the produce is spectacular. great prices all around. and they even had my favorite canned hearts of palm! those are hard to find!
I come here primarily for desserts and they are good. I've purchased shrimp twice. The first time I opened bag ( 2 days before sell by date) and the smell almost knocked me out). Thought I would give them another chance. Just purchased shrimp and it smelled bad too. The cashiers are generally nice but the people at the customer service desk are always annoyed you interrupted the conversation they their co worker. I'd rather drive a little farther and go to Stew Leonard's or Whole Foods.
