We use to drive from Chanhassen to WA Frost because it was a dog friendly restaurant and the food was great. We were extremely disappointed and shocked that dogs are no longer allowed on the patio. Further, we each ordered the Halibut dinner which was absolutely delicious but incredibly over-priced for the amount of food provided. I weigh 103 pounds (and obviously don't eat a lot) and that dinner did not full me up! Sadly, this restaurant is no longer on the top of our list for summer restaurants to visit.
The BBQ was a little spicier than anticipated. But, everything else was perfect. Our server was friendly, but respectful of our conversation. The outside garden dining is by far the nicest setting for a lunch with friends, that I've experienced in the Twin Cities. I don't want to say too many nice things... or it might be too hard to get a reservation next time! :)
Outdoor patio is lovely. Food is somewhat pricy and poor value. Ordered pork chop. Came COLD to the table. Husbsnd and other guest ordered NY Strip steak and received 4 pieces of ovetcooked, dry and tepid beef on a plate that looked more like flank steak. Therestaurant needs to rethink their menu.
I had not been to Frosts in 20 years; it is still St Paul icon, especially for outdoor dining.
We had an absolutely fabulous time at WA Frost this past Friday night. Wonderful quiet atmosphere. Classical music at just the right volume level to add to the ambience but not intrude on conversation (so rare these days!). Wait staff works very well together - definitely a team approach. Everyone that approached our table was highly professional & friendly. Food was very well prepared - and the complex seasonings perfect. The pastry chef hit a huge win with the special strawberry rhubarb crisp! Highly recommend it!
The Patio is fabulous, along with the wine! Meal was just ok.
Every time I dine at W A Frost, when I leave, I feel so refreshed as I though I had been at a spa for the soul. How can one not feel good after experiencing the special ambience, the nowhere-else-to-be-found food, and the very attentive and knowledgeable staff that all make each dining experience a reason to come back again? Every person I have dined with at W A Frost leaves with the same feeling.
Per usual, the food was great! The patio was full, but inside dining was fine until the room started to fill up and then it got a bit noisy. Overall, another wonderful lunch @ WA Frost
I had heard such great things about this restaurant. The food was bang on. I can't say the same about the service though. Our server seemed very knowledgable. I don't know if he was spread so thin bouncing from indoors to outdoors or what it was. Would I go back? Of course.
