Extremely disappointed yesterday at the care that I rec'd here for my senior chihuahua & just the overall posture of the group. I will not be back & will be advising all my neighbors of this. Now, to what happened. I have used this vet for 2.5 years as a secondary vet to my "kids" because their primary vet is a 40 minute drive away. Up until yesterday the care was adequate, albeit egregiously expensive. For the record, they mark up they prescription diets what appears to be 40%, & until I found Chewy.com, was being tak... read more

I should have stayed at my last veterinarian, but this place was closer to my new house. When I took my cat in for the first time, I was charged so much for a urinalysis, xrays, medications, etc., that I felt kind of forced into something they call their "comprehensive plans." The amount of single charges on that one appointment made it reasonable to just purchase the annual plan. What I should have thought about (and wish I'd known), is that when I take her in for one of these "included free" items on the comprehensive plan... read more

I think Dr. Lawson is excellent. However the staff is out-of-control there impolite they're rude. I pulled my business after five years and thousands of dollars. When you own a company like this not only are you a vet but you have to make sure your staff members are behaving in the way that you want them to. There's a staff member either named Michele or Nicole: I can't tell because her enunciation is terrible. She was rude to me and rude to my daughter who has three dogs and whom I referred to West Hills animal hospital. ... read more

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hospital, Agi! We are so glad that Dr. Lawson was able to help treat your dog and save you money in the process. The qualities that you described, are things we strive for on a daily basis, so it is a great compliment that we are fulfilling those traits.

I am very unhappy with West Hills Animal Hospital. They quoted a price for neutering that included exam, blood work, vaccinations and medications. The surgery went well and my dog was fine. When I went to pick him up, the bill presented to me was $200 more than the quoted price. And they were going to charge even more for vaccinations even though he was up to date on vaccines. I complained and they lowered the price by $75 but did not take the price to the agreed quote. This is a bait and switch place. They quote one pric... read more

This place gives your animal expensive procedures and treatments they do not need just to jack up the bill. they actually admitted adding un-needed services to the bill. I called three other vets in the area, they were half the price and were much better. I am leaving West Hills Animal Hospital and will never come back. Don't buy the Paw Plan, huge rip off. The whole place is a huge rip off.

Response from them was vets can be expensive ! Yet I found vet within 2 miles that charged $40 for ear treatment Not $300 Followup is $15 Not $100 Guess that vet drives a Chevy-not a Mercedes

Business response:

Hi Erik, thank you for your feedback. We understand veterinary care can be costly, but we are confident that your pet will receive the best possible treatment using the most advanced technology from one of our knowledgeable and qualified doctors. We are also very passionate about preventative care, which is why we developed our wellness plans, which are not insurance, but actually bundled care packages to offer a year's worth of both necessary and preventative treatment for your furry friend with the benefit of spreading ou... read more

If I could give this place a negative review I would. Horrible place that isn't a "hospital" at all- their name is as misleading as their shady vet practices. They more than overcharge- they lie to you and inflate prices to squeeze money- they don't actually care about your pet at all. They tried to charge 800 dollars for a double ear infection. Seriously?! Oh and when my dog was a puppy and had parvo - the vet wasn't able to diagnosis it for 5 days - but managed to charge us almost 1000 dollars while "figuring it out" and t... read more

Business response:

Thank you for your feedback, Tabatha. We apologize for your negative experience with our hospital. It is never our intention, nor have we ever lied, to inflate prices or overcharge our client. Responsible veterinary care can be costly, but we are confident that your pet is receiving the best possible treatment while in our care. We are thorough in our testing to eliminate other possibilities, as many times symptoms overlap with different causes. We apologize if this was miscommunicated at all to you during your time here. In... read more

The worst Veterinary Hospital I have ever been to. Rude, seemingly uncaring staff, super expensive and seem to care more about selling you Heartworm Medication and testing, Flea & Tick medication etc. then they care about your pet. You pay for an exam and the exam is brief and tells you virtually nothing, you have to get blood work for that. That of course is more money, a lot more. That is what they care about. The young Doctor there (Dr. Hangst) seems quite nice but the other 2 seem jaded and are crabby. They know nothin... read more

Appointment was well over 400$ solely to remove a thorn from under our dogs skin. It took a whopping ten minutes of time and that includes waiting. We had to talk them down to $350. They line by line itemized every cost like its a hospital, even charging for the room. Then they said the follow up visit was free, but after the appointment gave us a bill anyway. (my fault for not making them put it in writing or recording them saying it I guess). We asked about having his vaccinations done (what he would need) and they trie... read more
