Under no circumstances should you allow a loved one to be admitted here. My 91yo reasonably healthy father-in-law was admitted for rehab after a surgical procedure for stomach ulcers. After ten days he couldn't go home because he had an elevated white blood cell count. Two weeks later I talked to Dr. Bhutani about his condition. She said he still had an elevated white blood cell count. I asked if he was getting antibiotics. She said no because he didn't have a kidney infection. I asked if he had an infection somewhere else,... read more

VETERANS BEWARE! My father was discharged from this facility a few days ago and was recovering from amputation surgery. Any veteran can tell you that war was awful to go through, but this facility, and the treatment my elderly father received was far from anything he or any non veterans there deserved. He wept so loudly in absolute relief that my mother was there to pick him up and take him far far away! His account for his time spent there was more damaging then it was productive. He recalled moments where he had soiled... read more

l had response from the administrator at Whitney Oaks. He addressed the plumbing issue, not the rude and threatening staff, or the fact that my roommate was allowed to scream in pain for over 4 and 1/2 hours without help. This makes me believe that these are constant, usual issues at the facility. Again, I stress to the reader, if you value yourself or your loved one, select another care home.

Business response:

Dear Marion, I am very sorry to read your comments about having problems with your stay at Whitney Oaks. Our goal is to wonderfully enrich the live of ever patient who stays with us. I entered this profession as a gerontologist because I truly care about people. In September of 2012 I was the new administrator of Whitney Oaks. I apologize that I was not aware of any bathroom repairs that may have been needed but can assure you that things are different today. I am personally committed to quality improvement each day, and so ... read more

We have an elderly mother who worked her entire life and is currently 81. She has parkinson but manages to live alone and take care of herself. Us kids visit frequently and always take turns helping her regularly. She recently fell and broke her arm. We contacted this facility and asked if they offered temporary care. They explained to us all the referrals and forms they would need to process our mother. We followed up with calling releasing hospital, primary care doctor. We spoke with this facility through out the da... read more

These people should be shut down. They only care about money, not people. There are humans slumped over, drooling and soiled in the hallways and they release people Against medical advice due to non payment knowing an application for medi care is pending. No heart, just shipped out. These are people's loved ones and they are treated horrifically. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there.

I'm here visiting my sister in law and I don't know why or what but I get really bad vibes from this place like something or someone is hovering over me, I don't want her here its creepy.

Business response:

Dear James, I am sorry to hear that you didn't have a positive first impression at our facility. If you're available, I would love to meet you, give you a personal tour, and address any concerns you might have. Please give me a call on my cell phone at 916-216-7996 or swing by my office when you have a moment. Thanks! Kyle Dahl, Administrator

Cons: Rip off! My sister checked out mid-month and they lie, lie, lie about mailing the pro-rated refund check for the full month paid in advance. Pros: My sister was able to recover in a reasonable amount of time, and she said the nursing staff was very nice.

Whitney Oaks' nursing assistants repeatedly told my Mom and her roommate to "just pee in your diaper!" Average call light response time was 1 hour. On more than one occasion, Whitney staff ignored my mom's requests for help. They didn't even look at her when she spoke to them. Whitney staff was not observed washing their hands and/or using hand gel. Whitney RNs refused to tell my Mom or her Durable Power of Health representative what medications they were giving her in the name of HIPAA. The RNs there did not even chec... read more

This place is a nightmare! The sales staff act like they care until they get your loved one hooked and then the staff at Whitney Oaks completely ignore's them. The first night my mom was there my cousin saw an old man in the hallway so desperate to get into the locked bathroom that he just dropped his pants in the hallway. When they found him, instead of letting him go to the bathroom they put him back in his room. I should have taken that as warning. My mom who can not walk has only been there a week and they have alread... read more
