DO NOT GO HERE...Recently I changed vets from ABC to a closer vet. My new vet called ABC to get my cat's records emailed. Staff at ABC REFUSED TO SEND THE RECORDS TO MY NEW VET UNLESS I FILLED OUT AND DELIVERED TO THEM A MEDICAL RECORDS RELEASE FORM WITH A COPY OF MY ID!!!! I called ABC and spoke to their manager, who ridiculously said "our vets like all the paperwork to be filled out correctly prior to releasing records." Absolute horse s**t!!! Just be aware that an initial visit here with a new kitten is $170. The nurses don't let you know that this package only covers their first visit, and initial shots. Upon the second visit, they will charge you another $170 for the booster shots. When you bring up that you were under the impression that the first package purchase was going to cover both visits, they will flippantly inform you that this is just how it is. I absolutely loved them and would recommend them for surgeries and emergencies, but something happened. I completely understand COVID, but it kept getting worse. I waited 45 minutes in the parking lot to be forgotten and then told "oh you can go and come back later". There began to be disconnects and we had lots of really long waits and it started to snowball. In my opinion, Dr. Kaplan is a lousy doctor who cares more about money than she does animals. A year ago, my nine-year-old chihuahua began vomiting and had diarrhea. Since we were in lockdown due to COVID, I was unable to talk to a doctor in person. I had to talk to her on the phone. She asked if my dog could have been poisoned. I didn't think so but it was possible since the guy next door hates dogs. I left my dog there all day. I went home to Escondido and then came back at night to pick her up. Not the same here anymore. I've been going here for about 18 years. Sadly, I'm now looking for another place to go. ABC Vet in San Marcos is poorly managed. They are too busy almost all the time to take your call without putting you on hold - and not a brief hold (see below). They need more help in there, it would seem. (They don't allow you to go inside the building! Other veterinary places have opened up for this, why can't ABC figure it out?) ABC's service has spiraled into terrible. We just left after arriving on time for an 8 am appointment and trying to call for 25 minutes. We either received a busy signal or we're disconnected after the phone rang for a period of time. Of course, they're happy to still charge full price for this horrible service. This used be the most amazing place. Dr Neicham (sp?) and Dr Martin and staff were absolutely incredible. I would follow them to the ends of the earth. Unfortunately the past few months we can no longer trust this establishment with the care of our pets. We've been calling for a week to get prescriptions refilled, and even had a 15 minute call to walk thru scheduling and prescriptions. This Veterinary clinic has gone downhill rapidly. Dr. Neishin retired a few months ago and apparently Dr. Martin is still on medical leave. I am sure he will be retiring also. Messages are not returned. You can't get a pet in to see a doctor in an Emergency and the wait times are terrible. We just had our Dog spayed there as I wanted to try out the new doctor. We had always gone to Dr Neishin or Dr Martin who are outstanding Veterinarians. The new Doctor did a good job with the surgery but any followup messages I left... read more

Absolutely bad management. One of the doctors does not have the right intentions and should not be a veterinary doctor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY to go hear! Please take care of your animals and take them somewhere else.
