We got American Home Shield when we bought the condo and we kept it after that because some of the appliances are older and it's easier this way. We've had them for 2 years now. They replaced the stove once. Recently, Whirlpool came out and the tech really knew what he was looking for. The dryer wasn't heating up and he came in, pulled it out and checked the fuse. There was a warranty on the home when we bought it but it was with another company and I wasn't too thrilled with them. I decided to go with American Home Shield because they seemed to have a pretty good reputation. I googled them online and checked all the references and what people had to say about them. Excellent subcontractors assigned to the repairs. Service trips and parts ordering were quick. Good communications throughout.
Coverage is pretty good overall and companies contracted for repairs are pretty good. They used to be pretty sketchy but AHS has gotten better company contracts in the last year or two.
When our air conditioner went out, the temperature was in the triple digits here. It affected our day-to-day greatly and American Home Shield expedited the claim for me. When the cooling unit was turned on, the thermostat would go blank. So the unit would be on for a couple of minutes then it would go off and we’d notice that the house wasn’t cooling.
