I have seen many negative reviews on AHS here but I have to respectfully disagree with most of these negative comments. I have has AHS for over 25 years and have always gotten excellent service. Yes sometimes it takes extra time to resolve an issue but that is life. I just completed a service where my refrigerator was not working and I was without that refrigerator for almost two weeks. My plumbing claim with American Home Shield where Plumb Genius was our contractor went really well. I did my claim online and that was quick and easy. I didn't need to speak to anyone. There was a quick response time too. I was contacted within the same day and rescheduled the day for them to come out. They were early, they made the repair and they didn't take long. It was a good experience.
We submitted a claim for the refrigerator about the same time we did for our HVAC. When I submitted the claim, it asked what kind of refrigerator it was. I put LG. I even put the model number. So, the guy that Home Shield sent out showed up at the house, walked in and looked at the fridge and said, “Yeah, I can’t do anything with this.” I asked why and he said, “You need a certified LG technician for this.” It was literally an absolute waste of time. Submitting the claim was very simple. However, the date that I was given was not the date that the contractor had come out. So once that time frame passed, I called Bennett's and they gave me a different date. They didn’t have plans on even coming out the date that I was originally given. I came home that Saturday and felt the heat. There was no air. I called Sunday morning about in between cooking breakfast. I was given a date on Monday. Bennett's didn’t come out Monday. Our refrigerator started going out but AHS had some one out to out home to work on it before the day was over he Spent time working on it and found our problems. And fixed it told use if the same thing happened again to let him know.
I have been using AHS for over 8 years and am very pleased with their coverage. I recently have a complicated issue with my refrigerator. It took the technician many trips to finally resolve the issue. I am glad that AHS's 60 days' "recall policy" is counting from the last trip visited by the technician, not the first trip. This essential means that after the repair, there is a 60 days' warranty period. Any reoccurring issue will be automatically covered without having to pay another deductible. I made the call Sunday night that the AC wasn’t working. Iceman Cooling and Heating was out Monday morning by 11:00, the tech was able to replace a part and everything was working again before noon. It was pretty hot that weekend so it was nice to get it fixed that fast. I really like Home Shield. I’ve had them now for 15 years and overall, I’ve had exceptional service from them. My garbage disposal quit on me. I submitted a service request to AHS at night time and a tech from RDN Plumbing was there the very next day. So he came out in less than 24 hours. Also, he was supposed to come between 1:00 and 4:00 but he called to see if it was okay if he could come earlier which was fine as we were home anyway. He found out that the motor was gone and it was just shot. He had a replacement in his vehicle and he was able to replace it. It worked out perfectly and he did a great job.
