I’ve been with American Home Shield for 15 years. I’ve never had another home warranty and I haven’t had a need to. I submitted a couple of claims this year already and with the COVID stuff, there were no problems. AHS has added model numbers, which is great, as well as a description of the problem. That way, you can give those technicians a heads up. It would be nice to be able to immediately give me a drop down if I’ve had previous contractors. There was a water leak on my refrigerator. Some pipes were also frozen so it wasn’t allowing the water to go down the same drain. I called this in to American Home Shield and someone from Master Pro came out. He was professional and very quick. But the first time he came out, he needed a piece of equipment. That took about a week and a half which was a little while than I expected. Otherwise, everything is great now. Everything is running. My refrigerator is done so I’m happy.
While I was working with my granddaughter and her water heater, my water heater died. I immediately contacted AHS and they had me in contact with ASAP #2 Plumbing very shortly. Appointment was made and when the technician arrived, he was very knowledgeable and talked me through every thing that had to be done to include upgrading everything to code. I had Choice Home Warranty before and I was not happy with them. I had a water heater that started leaking. They came out and determined that it was the pressure containment shell in the water heater but they didn't cover that. So I had to replace it on my own and determined to change to American Home Shield. I discussed with representatives what if my water heater goes out and they determine it's the pressure containment shell leaking, they said that if they can't fix it, they replace it. Express Heating & Air Conditioning Service came out the very first time to determine if I had a problem with my AC unit. Something came and my box burned out. They told me that I needed a replacement of some type of a box. So, after they came and determined that, they told me they were gonna order the part and they'd be back with it.I submitted the claim online and the AHS website was pretty good. One of my air conditioning units stopped working and it was two days before the technician came out but he was great. This is the first time I needed American Home Shield for anything and it worked out well so, I like it.
The air conditioner wasn’t cooling. And we had the same issue the prior year with the same unit, and so we had somebody come out last year. And he ran a dye test and put some stop-leak stuff in it, which I didn't agree with because I think if there's a leak, you need to fix it. But he did what he did and he said that’s what my coverage got me. It stayed cool until it got hot again.As soon as we had an 85-degree day, the temperature started going up, and so I called again. AHS is good and I’ve always been happy with them. They get people out right away. Recently, my AC wasn’t cooling and was dripping from the roof. The first guy came out, fixed the problem with the cooling, but he could not fix the drip. Another guy came out and said it was too big of a job so Right Tech came out. The first time, they flushed it out but it didn't work. They came out again and replaced some parts up there and fixed it. Then it started that the AC wasn’t cooling again.
