I had a little lapse for a couple of years, but all in all, I've had Home Shield for over 20 years. My husband and I are getting older and he’s not handy as he used to be. I needed somebody. American Home Shield is good. Their vendors have been good as well. I do claims online and it's easy. The last one was a sink and a toilet had to be replaced.
I have had coverage with American Home Shield for a long time, about 10 years. I had a break and then I picked it back up again. When I do a service order, I get a response from a vendor right away. I had a little problem five years ago wherein they were using a certain vendor that wasn’t user-friendly, but they don’t use that vendor anymore. I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS and it was a pretty smooth process. They assigned J&A South Park and the tech got here about 30 minutes from the time that he called me. He looked at my toilet because it was stopped up and something was stuck on it. He was very professional and he fixed it. He also took the time and answered any questions or any concerns I had. I recently purchased a home in which part of the sale was American Home Shield for one year. There was a problem with the tankless water heater so I called AHS. The rep that answered my call was courteous and efficient. Within minutes after the call, I had an appt. with a technician from a local company to come and service the water heater. So far so good! I would prefer not to have to pay a $75 service fee as I think it should be part of the AHS complete warranty package.
Every time we hit the light in two of our bedrooms, it would make like a sizzling noise. I just called AHS and it was already taken care of. The guy from State Electric came out and replaced that. It’s a very good experience.
Our refrigerator stopped working. We tried doing the reset to see if we were getting any codes but nothing was working. So, we called American Home Shield. But the first company that was referred to us by them was horrible. I had a very bad experience with the guy and AHS should not recommend him to anybody. AHS did a great job when the spring on the garage door broke. Submitting the claim was a little too easy. So for own sake, we called to verify that everything went through. It worked well and I'm pleased right now.
So far, I've had problems with two of AHS's contractors. And I was very dissatisfied with their work. The first one was LA Appliances. I put in a work order in July and the first item was fixed in September. Then the second item was fixed in October. The first three times I called, I was told the company had to order parts. Then after that, I was finally told that somehow, the claim got put on the backburner and that they were gonna take care of it.
