My hot water tank was making such loud noises. You could hear it everywhere in my house. The tech came and cleaned it out. Then the outdoor water faucet wouldn't shut off and he fixed it. When I submitted a claim to AHS, I had to wait a long time on the phone, but it was okay. Then they sent somebody in about four days. J-Star sent out David for my plumbing issue. He was good. He had his mask on and he never got close to me. When we were speaking, he made sure he was 6 feet or more apart. I feel really well about the service. Someone else came out before him, and they didn't fix the problem. They told me that something else needed to be done. I've had American Home Shield before in California and it wasn't the same. In Illinois, it’s been amazing. They set up an appointment for the technician to come out and fix the issue. We've had a couple of claims and the technicians were very nice and knowledgeable. We had a dishwasher repair done, and then another claim that was just completed was for the heater where we had an issue with the thermostat. My washing machine was clogged. I told American Home Shield online what the problem was and then three days later, I got a call from the technician to set up the appointment. The tech had a mask on when he came. Then I just left him to take my washing machine apart and put it back together. He unclogged the hose and that was it. It wasn't that bad of a problem. It was a good experience for me.
The igniter on our stove cooktop wasn’t working on any of the burners and we didn't know the make of it because it was not anywhere on the top of the cooktop. So, we assumed that it was Whirlpool because our oven was a Whirlpool. Sears came out and the technician took the cooktop out to where he could finally find out which brand it was. It was a Deco. I did a claim for the garage door opener and it was easier than I thought. The contractor was a really great guy. He even told me that if I had a problem, I could give him a call and he'll come back and adjust it. But there hasn't been a problem. It works fine. Home Shield's service is really good. My claim was handled in less than 24 hours. I called it in around 4:00 and a guy was here the next day in the morning. So I was very impressed. It was done professionally and that's what counts.
The contractors that came for the plumbing issue fixed the immediate problem. They had to replace the sensor element because the heater keeps going out. However, he said he was concerned because he doesn't know if how long that fix is gonna stay in place because the heater is old. He said he could already tell that it's filling up with some form of particulate. I called American Home Shield because of an issue with my hot water heater and they got in touch with the plumbing company. Then, I had to call the plumbing company and I had to set up an appointment with them. The tech who came out knew what he was talking about and he fixed the problem. He was knowledgeable and since the repair, the performance of the hot water heater has been great. All in all, having AHS is pretty convenient.
I would recommend American Home Shield highly and I've already done that several times. I called them in reference to an electrical problem and a plumbing issue. They were very responsive and got the contractors out pretty quickly. The contractors both did an excellent job so I'm very pleased. They resolved the issue very quickly. It's been a week and a half or so and so far, so good.
