I live in the ne part of seattle near the university village, and my vet who is good wanted $1,500 to pull my dogs tooth and do a cleaning. I just felt there had to be other options, at the same time my dog was hurting. A lady overheard my dilemma at work and recommended Animal Hospital of Newport Hills. Its not fancy, the seats are vinyl, and they can get busy. The good news is they are open seven days a week, m to f till 9 pm, and you can just walk right in during the day with no appointment. This place is right across the street from our house and between the location and the walk-in hours, it's extremely convenient. Everyone is very nice and whenever we stop in for simple services they get our girls (2 dogs) in and out. I take the girls here for their vaccinations and to get their nails trimmed because it's always cheap and they do a really good job (especially on the nail trims!) My one issue is price. We appreciate all of the care we have gotten from Newport Hills Animal Hospital in Newcastle - both staff and Doctors have been outstanding. We have never had to wait to get an appointment and the personal care we get is wonderful. Often the staff behind the counter will recognize Picard and come around to hold and pet him. Picard is now much better about his visits due to the warm affection which is greeted upon him. Thank you.
I've been taking my dog here ever since we adopted him. I've always been very pleased with the care they've given. He's had an ear infection, eye infection, nausea, skin disorders and general health follow-up's. He's always had good results with the care that was provided. I really feel they work hard to keep costs down, and it shows. Thorough... but expensive! If we got all the shots and check-ups they recommend for our cats, we would spend more on cat maintenance than car maintenance. Cheaper to get new animals than maintain current ones. On second thought, maybe stuffed animals is the way to go... J/K honey.

It seems like the skill level of the vets here can vary, so if you find somebody you like, be sure to stick with them. My ferrets and cat are patients, and I've always been confident in the care they've received. The staff was extremely compassionate when they heard that one of my elderly ferrets passed away and went out of their way to send a condolence card. I was very impressed and happy with the care received. Not only are they very friendly and knowledgeable, but the price is great. I have been going to VCA and spending thousands on my pets for the past few years but got tired of the poor care and outrageous bills. Newport Hills Vets gave us options for treatment (not just the most expensive one like they do at VCA), and very detailed information about my dogs illness. Love them for shots as well - can't beat the $20 vs. VCA cost at $200. We will return.
We have been taking our animals here for the past seven years. If we needed to take them in for something more than annual vaccinations we would opt for another vet and in fact we have. I feel they do a fine job, however I feel like I get nickle and dimed out of as much cash as they can possibly get.
