It was a rocky beginning. I signed the paperwork and put the deposit down in January of 2013 and they didn't actually start the work until April. I was told the work would begin in a few weeks after I signed. A few weeks went by and I heard nothing, so I called and called. The quality of the work was excellent. Timeliness of the job was bad. Original contract stated that the job should take 5 to 8 weeks. Started the second week of March finished 21 weeks later. Also had difficulty getting in touch with the company sometimes as many as 4 calls required to get a call back. Towards the end of the project they had someone call me everyday to check on progress. I would not have thought it could take FIVE weeks from theday we signed the contract, until our roofing and gutter replacement job wouldbe completed. I know we asked that the start date of our job be moved up, whichit was by two days. We completely regret having asked for this consideration,as the construction crew to build the patio roof arrived without knowledge ofthe job, nor the proper tools to complete the job. The whole experience with this company was horrible. From the time they came out, until we finally were fed up and felt like the estimate was extremely high just so they didn't have to do the work. The guy who came out to do the estimate seemed unhappy to be there and not at all interested in really figuring out our problem. After he came out and promised us an estimate within a few days, we had to call the office numerous times to try and get in touch with him because we had not received an estimate. As above. The provider came, measured and talked to us about replacing our roof. We really were impressed with his professionalism and were very interested in getting their quote. Unfortunately, they never got back to us, though every other contractor we contacted did in a timely manner. Don't know why?
This is a very long story of misrepresentation, non-communication, incompetence, pressure tactics, excess charges, unexpected and unexplained fees, sloppy work, cheap materials, and bad-mouthing of other customers and other employees. The workers were mostly decent, though their competence was uneven. Our salesman misrepresented the cost. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE CLAIM THAT THEY CAN FINANCE YOU FOR 12 MONTHS SAME AS CASH. Unfortunately, this work was a fiasco. Ultimately, we got what we paid for, but not without a huge amount of hassle and extra time. I was excited to work with this company given the excellent reviews and the extremely responsive salesman who came to our house on a Friday evening and was very knowledgeable, respectful and prompt. Angie's List members beware! Based on positive reviews by other members, we chose Arocon to replace our roof. A property inspection had disclosed the existing roof was installed incorrectly (failure to add H clips), requiring a complete replacement. Communication wasterrible as our salesperson Larry told us the wrong date and then failed to schedule the attic insulation we ordered. The work done was good but they were not reliable. The job was estimated at a week and they took over a month. There were days on end where nobody showed up. The same people rarely came so what we wanted had to be explained repeatedly. Several times we were told a crew was coming and nobody did. The office frequently didn't know where their crews were or why they hadn't come. They left large pile of glass-covered debris in our foyer, complete with a rotting banana peel, for days.
