Such disappointment. I was in Badger and Co two weeks ago and had an amazing meal but not this time. I won’t be going back. I wonder what happened? New chef? We were a table of 5. 2 people had scallops and 2 veg starters. Scallops were tiny and over cooked. The veg starter was consisted of very finally chopped veggies a small piece of cheese. It was very bland to a point it was not enjoyable. For mains we ordered 3 lambs, a steak and a burrata salad. The lambs were okish but the garnish were really really bad (polenta was so... read more
Very loud lunchtime; seated in a small corner table next to a party of 12 plus having a rowdy Christmas party. Politely said we were leaving. Staff were polite but struggling with the busy service. Very Irritated to be reported to Opentable as “no show”.
Recent change to menu so only brunch available until 4pm. Long wait for food - 45 minutes.
We did arrive a little late and maybe used to a New York service speed but with limited time the service was slower than an asthmatic snail, it certainly could be a lot lot quicker. The sever was nice and pleasant but not sure how it took so long, the place wasn’t half full. The food was not bad but the BLT was open face with once slice of toast. I am sorry but a sandwich needs two slices, how can you eat chicken, tomatoe, bacon and lettuce with one slice. No Bueno - not a sandwich.
We are discovering that as the months go by, there are hardly any servers in the restaurant. We love Badger and the food, but let down by waiting for up to an hour for our meal, although when enquired about how long it would eventually arrive, was informed 'you were late'. Waggy finger time. There are hundreds of eating venues in Edinburgh, and even more outstanding, upcoming new arrivals, so maybe the management should address this problem. The waiting staff are really lovely, but have to deal with us hungry moaners!
While the building and ambiance were nice and the server quite friendly, the venison was inedible (raw/tough) and the beer pie lacked any flavor. The scallops starter was equally flavorless and the scallops were under seared. I recommend strongly against the place. The chef is too busy trying to make the dishes appear fancy to focus on flavor.
Although the food was delicious, the portion sizes were just abysmal. I ordered the scallops as a starter which were £10 and I got one scallop! When I pointed out that the menu said scallops in the plural meaning more than one, it fell on deaf ears. Just not interested. Shame really as I would have gone back and recommended to my foodie group, but now won't be a return customer and I won't recommend.
The overall rating is really low because I emailed the restaurant directly to make a complaint and received nothing back at all. Won’t ever be going here again with that kind of service. Extremely poor to say the least
We love love Badger @ Co. Bar staff, food, waiting staff all lovely to be around ! Go see .m
