I went to Bethel Bakery for a cake decorating class. I’ve had their delicious cakes before, so I was excited to learn some techniques & to leave with a “make & take” cake. The staff was extremely friendly & helpful. I was impressed that the owner came to say ‘hello’ ...and then he stayed & helped us! Totally awesome!! Thank you for a fun night & delicious cake! more »

Bethel bakery made the cake for my 12/02/17 wedding. The cake was absolutely gorgeous. It also tasted amazing. We received lots of compliments from our guests. They also delivered a additional Gluuteny Bakery cake for my husband who has celiacs disease. My whole experience couldn't of been any better. Everyone was super nice and professional. I would definitely recommend them. more »

My family has always loved Bethel Bakery. I had an issue today with the no-cut cake I ordered for my daughter's birthday party. I picked it up from the North Strabane location and instead of a cake, I was given 24 cupcakes. I spoke to the manager of the north strabane location who contacted the main bakery. They remade the entire no-cut cake to my specifications and delivered it to the party venue. I am thoroughly impressed with their customer service and will be a Bethel customer for life. more »

Thank you for the kind review, Brandi! We appreciate your patience as we corrected our error and we hope your daughter had a wonderful birthday party!

The overall experience was so pleasant and easy! When they didn't have a batter/icing for us to try at our initial appointment, we returned and they provided us with an entire 8" cake to try! Flavors were amazing (we got Tiramisu filling with the chocolate dusting and espresso drizzle) and the cake was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend Bethel Bakery. more »

Always great Bakery Products
The bread and bakery products are the best in Bethel Park. There is a large selection of Christmas cookies during the holidays and you can have cakes made to order.
Wedding cakes are one of their specialties. I worked at Bethel Bakery when I was in high school back in 1969-1970 when Moe Walsh owned it, I think his son now owns and runs the bakery. more »

I have always been a HUGE fan of Bethel Bakery so it was a no brainer of where to get my wedding cake last year. It was absolutely gorgeous and extremely yummy! We received so many compliments on it. Fast forward to this year and the tradition of eating the top layer for your anniversary, which I was extremely nervous about. We left the day after the wedding for our honeymoon for a week and the top tier was just put in my freezer by one of the wedding party (eek!) When I got home from our honeymoon I immediately wrapped as per the instructions. Sunday when we tasted it, it tasted exactly the same as it did on our wedding day! Thanks Bethel Bakery! I have always been a fan and will be one for life! more »

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! My experience with the Bethel Bakery was A+ from the beginning. From April of this year when I booked my tasting (the only establishment that would accommodate my working schedule btw) I knew that this was the bakery that I wanted. The cake was DELICIOUS! It tasted exactly the same as the it did at the tasting and my guests loved it! They were able to work with me in getting the separate cupcakes from the Gluuteny delivered to my reception site. The cake looked amazing, tasted amazing, the staff was amazing. This is the bakery that you want fulfilling your wedding cake orders. more »

About

Edit
Since Bethel Bakery opened for business in the 1955 in the south hills section of Pittsburgh, generations of patrons have made their way to the shop for the bakery’s signature pastries, cookies, coffeecakes and one-of-a-kind cakes.

With a number of years of bakery experience, a stint in the Navy behind him and a small inheritance, Morris Walsh, with characteristic determination, made his dream of owning his own bakery a reality when he and a partner opened for business during the Eisenhower administration. While his business partner left the venture within a few months, Morris soon gained another associate, his future wife, Anna.

Together, the couple built the boutique bakery into one of the busiest and most beloved purveyors of high-quality baked goods in western Pennsylvania. And they did it while raising seven children, all of whom would eventually work in the family business.

Today, a second generation of the Walsh family manages the bakery. John and his wife, Chris, took over day-to-day operations in 1991and expanded the already extensive inventory of baked goods, but Morris and Anna’s legacy of exceptional quality and customer service lives on.

People travel for miles for a taste of Bethel Bakery’s signature buttercream icing and discriminating brides across the region wouldn’t dream of celebrating their nuptials with anything but a hand-crafted, custom-designed Bethel Bakery cake decorated by one of the shop’s talented designers.

In 2006, Bethel Bakery’s iconic status in the region was recognized by award-winning documentary filmmaker Rick Sebak, who featured the bakery in his WQED program, “What Makes Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh.”

In an era driven by convenience and competition from mega-markets and chain stores, Bethel Bakery has endured because it is far more than just a retailer of baked goods—it is an memorable destination experience and a nostalgic reminder of the charms of independent bakeries that were once part of the fabric of every community.
