We came here for the seafood buffet one Friday during Lent. It was a random craving and we just wanted to go somewhere casual and cheap where we could gorge on lots of fried things and coleslaw. That we did, and happily. The food was what you'd expect, but I was quite surprised by the level of service at this Big Boy. Our waitress, though we ordered the buffet, kept refilling our drinks and making sure everything was okay. The host was a super nice guy and when he rang us up before we left was genuinely interested in making... read more
One of the newest and cleanest Big Boys in Michigan. This Madison Heights location is ALWAYS busy, but rarely have a wait. I've been eating at Big Boy for nearly 30 years... This location has pretty solid food. Tasty breakfasts and pretty decent dinners. One thing I steer clear of is the chicken.. for some reason, I've had 2 or 3 different occasions at this Big Boy where my chicken was under-cooked! That will keep me away from ordering chicken from here on out but I still enjoy most other things on the menu.
This may be the cleanest, friendliest, and most magical Big Boy of them all! I have eaten here a few times and never have I had a problem or regret with a decision. The servers I have encountered take pride in their jobs, despite it being a staple entry level position for many in the world of food service. Once they even made me a triple-decker grilled cheese per request--for some reason it's no longer on the menu. I think their cabbage soup is delicious. Sure, the salad bar may only stock a spring mix/iceberg blend but all... read more
Sometimes I like the finer things in life. Other times I just want something normal and down to earth. For me, that's Big Boy. I grew up in a small town with few restaurants, but Big Boy was one of them. Going to Big Boy is like going home for a home cooked meal (especially when your mother doesn't cook much.) According to a server once, this is the busiest Big Boy in Michigan and it's easy to see why. The restaurant is decorated in a '50s diner motif. It's large, clean and bright. The menu is the standard menu of ... read more
Came into the Big Boy restaurant located on John R St in Madison Heights, Mi. last Thursday after leaving a dr's appointment. I hadn't been in a Big Boy restaurant in years. So I decided to pull in and try the old fashioned Big Boy sandwich/onion rings or the soup/salad bar. When I walked in no one approached me to seat me. Finally an older woman hollered to me from behind the counter to seat myself. I sat there for an about 10 minutes when a young woman came over to my table.. balled up, ugly, unfriendly and asked if I want... read more

We waited to be seated, there was no one ahead of us. The tables were wiped down and wet. The napkins and menus stuck to the table. The table had no salt, black pepper or any condiments. Not a good start. It was 7:10 pm when we ordered. We both ordered fish filet with waffle fries and a Caesar salad (they were out of coleslaw). The fish was cold and soggy, fries over cooked and cold. The tartar sause tasted closer to mayo than tartar. Salad was excessively salty, the dress bland. The croutons and cornbread were good. The ambia... read more

My husband ordered a slim Jim and fries with Cream of Broccoli soup my husband got sick before we got home. Trash is what we received. Only 2 other families in the restaurant. Worst food and service ever. I will not return

Don't go to this Big Boy ! Waited at door for 6-7 minutes (only 2 people on the floor) then waitress did not come back for 10 minutes. She was just walking around slowly or standing at the kitchen listening to the cooks yelling at each other .Took our order and waited 40 minutes for our food, which was not edible ! My Big Boy was cold , cheese not melted and the bun fell apart. Also, she forgot to bring our drinks .All 4 entrees were terrible. I did not want to waste time sending it back, just wanted to leave and it cost... read more
