Wow! All day breakfast which includes the biggest biscuits in South Texas! The quality and options are great! Black Bear is a great alternative to Jims or Ihop!
Just wanna give it the biggest shout out for amazing over-the-top service. I was very well taken care of and my son and they went above and beyond what is normally expected as a restaurant thank you so much for making my experience wonderful and pleasant. Hector was an amazing server and I forget the manager's name, but he was also amazing and took care of me and my son
The food is amazing, and the service was awesome. Autumn took great care of us, our meals were out very quickly, and piping hot. My go-to was perfect, chicken fried steak with extra gravy. The onion rings were on point, I never thought about cranberry sauce with chicken fried steak before, but it was excellent. My wife had the turkey dinner that was very juicy, and we had to order the bear paw desert to go because we were so full. My wife also signed off on excellent homemade ranch dressing. Great food and friendly peop... read more
New location opening today! Atmosphere was fun and inviting! Everyone was happy and helpful! Food is always plentiful! Come in hungry, leave full with a Togo bag! Dee was our server! She was amazing! Checked out with Lisa and she recommended the grits for the next time! Love the location since this one is closer to the house! Welcome Black Bear Diner to this of town!
Super disappointed with this visit. I convinced my family to come because last time, our food was the best I'd tasted in San Antonio in a while. This time, the portions were ridiculously small, and the onion rings were so oily they weren't even edible. Really unfortunate drop in quality -- I expected much better based on our last experience.

My stepfather, wife, daughter, and I decided to stop by for a nice morning breakfast. We expected a relaxing Sunday brunch, and while we understand longer waits on weekends, the overall experience didn't live up to expectations. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed -- she kept mixing up our orders and forgetting what went where. When the food finally arrived, it was underwhelming. The biscuits were undercooked and could've used a few more minutes in the oven. We were hoping for something fresh and hearty, but everything just fel... read more

First impression: Smelled like a wet dog when we walked in. Carpet probably needs to be cleaned and sanitized. We stayed and ignored the red flags (burned hot coffee, laughably strong iced coffee) until our food came out and the request for crispy, fully cooked fries and hash browns was completely ignored somewhere along the way. I finished my sandwich, but my guest didn't touch his plate or coffee because he didn't think it was right to be charged for something he didn't like. They still charged for his coffee but took off... read more

At 1:53pm on a Monday afternoon we were told that there was a 45 minute wait!! The parking lot was half empty and I counted at least 10 available seats for a party of two!! That is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.... This will be my last visit to any Black Bear Diner!!

Takes forever to be seated and just as long to be waited on. The rolls were burnt and hard.
