In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Order take out the chicken fried steak and it was just fabulous. It tasted so homemade my husband thought it was homemade and he's a cook. Definitely will be going To the restaurant to have a proper sit down dining experience when we can. Can't say enough about it

Have been to 5 locations state wide. The quality and price on entrees deserve 5 stars. Service has been great to okay depending on the server at all locations. The the service on the new location in Portland as been on average good. Our last visit the server was a little to personable which was kinda awkward, but not so to warrant any lower review. If you are hungry and want good proportions you can't go wrong dining at a Black Bear Diner.
