I first went to this diner in Mt. Shasta. A warm and friendly place on a cold snowy day. The portions are large ! (feeds me for 2 meals) and the décor is fun..and plenty of artifacts to buy for gifts... I like the booths...the food is average ... like an American diner, not fancy but sticks to the ribs. My last visit was a Shasta scramble and was very good. The service was at first pretty sketchy as it was new, and now quite fast and friendly. I like having a diner near my house that is like Denny's (now gone I think)... if ... read more

All of the food was super fresh and tasty! We also loved the cabin-like feel. Made us feel like we were on vacation somewhere snowy! Would definitely go back.

I don't eat at many chain restaurants, but this place is great. The service is as friendly as it could be. They offer large portions of tasty southern classics at prices that can't be beat. It seems the staff are empowered to accommodate any reasonable requests. It's hard to get good chicken fried steak around here. Black Bear Diner does it well. It's my favourite thing on the menu. It comes out tender, hot and juicy. Salad, mashed potatoes, great cornbread, and another side dish make it a feast. They serve breakfast all... read more

Years ago my son and I visited a Black Bear Diner and were not very impressed. We ran into someone from this diner and they told us to give it a try as it is "very good". So my son and I went in and it was smashed and the staff were terrific, quick, attentive, interested and all around offered a great experience. WELL DONE!!! PS. the food came out correct too.

Went to black bear yesterday and we definitely went at the wrong time, the line was out the door, which was discouraging because we just wanted a quick bite to eat. However, even with the long line were able to get to a table about 10 minutes faster than quoted. We sat in a section with Reuben who was very delightful and silly which my daughter and nephews loved. My husband and I were astounded at how big the portions were and how fast it all came out. Im not sure if it was the owner or manager but a young man came up to our... read more

This place is absolutely amazing! I had the pleasure of having the Chicken fried steak and the ambience coupled with the friendly servers was just a great experience. I also met the General Manager Cody who ensured that everything that my family and I had was fixed to perfection. 10/10 would recommend.

Not bad! Not mouth-watering great, but not bad overall. Tons of food so decent value. Much improved quality of food over the places that have occupied that space during the past 50 years. Taste of food/prep was a little inconsistent. My sister's country potatoes were much tastier than my hash browns & much better in appearance and taste of my brother's country taters. Needless to say, we didn't convince my bro that this would be a repeat patronage. Service was good. Family-friendly local diner-like atmosphere. I'd go bac... read more
