Poor service, slow service. Not because of COVID shortage either. The employees were standing around talking to one another. Showing each other pictures on their phones. We waited to be seated while the woman at the register never looked up. The cooks were scratching their heads and then continued to cook. There were 5 small tables occupied so it was not rush hour! I have always remembered Black Bear Diner as great place to eat. The food was good, portions great and very economical. I was very much looking forward to the opening of Black Bear Diner in Terra Linda (San Rafael, CA). I have eaten there at least twenty times, mostly take out. The first couple of times (dining in) went well. But, nearly every visit after (take out) were only fair at best. Why did I keep going back? Glutton for punishment I guess. I had the 2 biscuits with gravy. It so salty could not eat them. I had to trash them. I will not try that meal again.

Had the fried chicken. Worst chicken I ever had in my life. Double greasy crust, over breaded and too salty. Really should be removed from the menu. Very disappointed. Will not return.

I do not recommend it because the cooks are a disaster, they burn most of the food and if you return it they get angry and if they see you very often there they say they are the usual ones and it sounds very ugly I have had very bad experiences in this place

I usually eating breakfast at san rafael location food was great but i give one star now cus eating twice and both time food was so bad first time ordered a waffle and it was undercooked and ordered a omelette and my hungry goes away seeing wat i have in my plate

I wouldn't recommend this location. The service was C-. I under mistake happened. I order sourdough bread. I got two cold sourdough bread and two burned whole wheat I'm guessing. Host was a little disorganized.

Food was not that great, service was garbage and very dirty .I would not recommend Eggs Benedict very bad I came here because I had it in Houston Texas was and it was very good and clean and the place was great.
