In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. When we arrived, people were waiting outside and inside to be seated. Was told the wait was 20- 25 min long. When we got seated half the dining area was empty. Kids ordered apple slices with their meal, waiter comes back to tell us they ran out of apple slices. Ate our meals, ordered Peach Cobbler. Waiter returns and informs us they ran out of all Cobblers. We actually went yesterday. I had been once before. Big portions. But yesterday we were seated, gave our drink orders. The people that were just behind us were seated near us. Were were talking, and kind of wondering what was taking so long. Then the people seated after us were served their food. No one had come back to take our order. I got up! My daughter and I went. Terrible mix up on food and food was not good sent it back. Ordered something else. Didn't eat it. Left. Will not go back
Hated it food was not good other than the fries and service was not good at all. Never returning to this place

We were offered a booth or a table, we requested a booth. First time patron and had a great experience. Went at noon hour and there was a long wait for a table but the counter was empty. My wife and I sat at the counter, order taken right away by waiter. Great view of kitchen and watched a woman sort orders and make sure they were complete and right before going to tables. Also saw and heard her comp a meal that was under cooked. This is great customer service and No I am NOT connected to Black Bear in any way except as a satified customer.
