In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. We normally do not write reviews but this time an exception had to be made. We have gone to many Black Bear diners in our travels and for only being open since Aug of this year, 2017, this is the worst location. Restaurant had only a handful of customers. We had to ask for someone to take our order after sitting and being ignored for over 10 minutes. We asked for 4 eggs and only received 3. When this over sight was pointed out we received 2 more eggs that were barely cooked. The food was not the normal quality we are u... read more

Sitting in the restaurant right now, food was ice cold sent back the French fries that likely sat under the headlamp since lunchtime, and the cornbread muffin sat in the microwave a little too long.....it was burnt from the inside and hard as a brick only thing that was good about our dinner was our waitress

Wait was short, but went downhill fast from there. I ordered the eggs ( over medium )bacon home fries and a biscuit with gravy. My eggs were medium but the whites were runny and they said the home fries had peppers and onions but mine and my brother ‘s were plain. When I asked he just said they usually do. My brother asks for some on the side but they never came. My biscuit had aprox. one tablespoon of gravy on it. Asked for a little more but never got it. My brother ordered his eggs over easy but got them very well done so ... read more

Bad service. Food wasn't all that great. Won't be going back. I'll stick to the locations I know are amazing.
Terrible service. My server never once asked me if I needed a refill. When I told them service was bad, the girl ignored me in favor of my wife. Not one friendly face or attitude there. The customers seem to be s nuisance. They don't have much free refill wise for the non soda or tea drinkers. Be careful if you have food allergies as their menu doesn't state what comes on everything. I ordered something that didn't state it had onions and had onions all over my food. First time experience with my kids and was very excited as my boyfriend had been to one before ... wasn’t greeted upon entering had to wait for about 15 minutes before they took our name , finally seated hostess left and another wait to get server to take drink orders and felt rushed by Carlos (server) to order, he started out strong but lagged as food order was taken , didn’t return for refills.
