In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. This place is charming. I had never heard of this chain but we happened to see it on our way home from an event. When you walk in the first thing you see is all the black bear merchandise; teddy bears, slippers, pajamas, mugs, socks etc... which is cool. There's also a jukebox that lets you pick the music. Its great music! When you are seated you don't notice all the details at first but as you look around, the decor is really cool and they have these awesome newspaper menus.
