Not bad, but not the best Black Bear Diner. The one in Beaverton is better by far, but they are always crowded. I came in for my free Birthday breakfast meal. Enjoyed it, but service was definitely lacking and the place was pretty empty of people. Not sure what's up with that, but they should probably close this location as a loss and put another in the Portland metro area instead.
My wife and I have been here a few times and have not had a bad experience. The potions are huge and the food has always been very good. The pancakes are fantastic! The service can be a little slow, but they are always polite. We try to get in a little early because the line gets long after 9a. As far as chain restaurants go, this is near the top of the list.
Excellent service, excellent food! I got the Taco Salad and it was monstrous and delicious! Absolutely loved it. My family all got burgers and they loved them. We will definitely be coming back!
I came here by myself on Veterans Day for breakfast. I was seated at the bar fairly quickly and served quickly. Food was excellent and in big portions. I got chicken fried steak, eggs, hash browns and a pancake on the side. The staff was very friendly towards me and each other. I will definitely be back!
Whatever start-up problems they've had aren't happening today. We came in during a typically busy Sunday brunch time, but were seated quickly and served both quickly and cheerfully. The food portions were generous and well-presented. This is truly like all the other BBD's we've ever visited. And there's even a special host for the kids.
It was super busy, which is usually a good sign! We waited 20 minutes, during that time we looked up songs on the juke box, and played 4. The 4th song played as we were sitting down at our table. The menus are cool, and made out to look like an old newspaper. I would say the menu seemed a little overwhelming. Takes a minute to read all the options. I ordered a cherry Pepsi and country fried steak and eggs. Large servings, and great service. Highly recommend this place.
I went back again recently with the family. On the plus side, the service was excellent. After waiting a few minutes to get seated (because no host or hostess at the door immediately), our waitress was friendly and the food came out reasonably fast. The children's menu is appropriately priced, does not "bundle in" a sugary drink, and offers the option of fruit instead of fries. Had the best Tuna Melt sandwich today. Service was great! We had a new server (I think her name was Yami) and she did a great job). This is our go to weekend breakfast place (although we typically go to the Newberg location). Huge portions, leftovers for days, everything is fresh! My three year old loves the bears and the jukebox.
Been wanting to go hear for awhile cause my family loves it so I had high expectations and I was not disappointed. The food portion was large and delicious, the service was excellent and I loved how clean it was and the decor was cute! Glad there is one close to home now.
