Comparing this Black Bear Diner location vs. the one in Newberg, I like this establishment better than the latter. The food was fresher, the service was better, and the lay out seemed cozier. The waitresses ensured that we were satisfied with the food and refilled our water glasses and coffee cups without a long wait. Orders were done correctly and promptly. Great experience overall.
Fast, friendly service. Our server Stephanie was awesome!! Food was yummy! I ordered chicken strips with mashed potatoes & gravy. Hubby ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. A mountain of fries was in his basket. The reason for 5 stars: The camaraderie between co-workers was refreshing to see. We were seated by the kitchens. They were smiling, laughing, & encouraging each other. A large party came in and 1 waitress was feeling overwhelmed & the other gals pitched in to assist. How fantastic!! Will definitely come ... read more
Stopped in for lunch with friends. We were greeted nicely and seated right away. It took about 7 minutes before server stopped by to provide menus and utensils. However, it took another 5+ minutes for water to brought to the table and drink orders taken, another 10 minutes for her to return for the meal orders. It also took about 15 minutes or so for the meals 1(sandwiches) to be delivered. All in all, the food was good, fairly priced and with decent portions. The service kinda sucked.
I was very excited for them to open. We had never been to a Black Bear Diner before this one.I thought the decor was cute and it was very clean. The staff was great and helpful. Our first visit was for breakfast, which we really enjoyed. The portions are huge. We liked it so much we went back for dinner a couple days later. Sadly we found dinner to be very lacking. I would definitely recommend going for breakfast, but I'd pass on dinner. They make some really good pies though. The cinnamon cream apple pie is worth the trip a... read more
Traditional home cooked meals, large portions, we tried the tri tip combo, chicken fried steak, tri tip lite portion (plenty of food) and the gobbler. All were good. Service was great.
Consistently good food! My favorite breakfast is pineapple cakes, so fresh & delicious! The place is always hustling when we are there & I see some room for improvement with communication between management and staff, but feel like it's part of the growing pains opening & staffing a new location. Restaurant has been very clean our last 6 visits :) We keep going back & have met some of the nicest people while dining at the counter, old school diner style. We will be back next to try the desserts which really look amazing. Go... read more
We are familiar with Black Bear Diners so were happy to find this newly opened one near our motel. Our dining experience was great. Server Yvonne was very upbeat, friendly and welcoming. She quickly found us a comfortable booth. Food was very, very tasty, even better than meals from other BBDs. Manager stopped by to check on our service and meal. He said their opening weeks had been rough so he was happy to hear we had had a good experience. As we left there were folks waiting (6pm) and they had been told there was a 45 minu... read more
My wife and I have been to other Black Bear Diner locations and enjoyed the food and dining experience. We arrived around noon and were told to expect a 15 minute wait, which I thought was reasonable. We were seated about 20 minutes later. The staff didn't take long to wait on us and get our drink orders. My wife needed a bit more time to look over the menu so the waitress proceeded to retrieve our drinks and returned about five minutes later. Sensing a trend? Shortly after placing our order, I made a comment to my wife... read more
Just visited the Wilsonville Black Bear for the first time. I have eaten at their Bend diner and always great. This was not a disappointment. Service was awesome, food - hearty portions and hot and very good. My husband had the Taco Salad, fresh and huge, too much even for his big appetite. I had the Shasta Scrample, really good as well. Friendly, and clean.
