Black Bear Diner sure lives up to the name with adorable black bears everywhere. The log cabin décor is super nice and our service was good and the food overall okay. We went in for breakfast and even the "lighter side" dishes were huge. You will not leave hungry for sure and the choices vast. The biscuits are huge, though sadly a big dry and crumbly. The biscuits with gravy had a thickened layer over the top so seems they just sat too long while waiting for the rest of us to have our omlettes and pancakes cooked. I did enjo... read more

Me and the wife ate here a few times. But this time wasn't a good day. Food was barely warm. Waitress took it back a they cooked a new plate. The new plate, after a few bites their was a hair in my food :/ The waitress made all the difference. She took the first plate off the bill. And when I showed her the air on the second plate, she took my wife plate off the bill. So we owed zero$$$ That is good customer service!!! So we tipped her good!! She saved that restaurant some customers! We will go back, it was just not my day

They serve ample portions and the service is good. Typical road side cafe with overcooked green beans, a slab of mashed potatoes and a reasonably good chicken fried steak. What more could you want.

We decide to stop by and have a quick snack tonight. It seemed like there was only 2 waiters on shift and it was a busy night. Both William and Cassie were super attentive to us. They made sure we knew why there was delays in serving us and our food coming to the table. They had positive attitudes and energy. We couldn't even be bothered by the fact that our food took long to get to us. William, our server was so kind and professional. Cassie was super friendly upon check out and explained all the delays. I highly recommend ... read more

I dont know why all the hate for this place. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. Their bloody mary is really good too. The sweet cream batter makes for a super tasty waffle. Next time I intend on trying the BEAR CLAW FRENCH TOAST. Yep, gonna do it.

Having heard good things about Black Bear Diner's large, tasty portions, we had to stop in for lunch today to try it out. What we found was an average road-side restaurant that has an appropriate Yelp rating (3 stars). While the portion sizes were large, we didn't find them to be any larger, and definitely not any better value; than the many other options we have in the Molalla and Canby area. To compare to another chain with similar breakfast and lunch choices, I would rate Black Bear a notch below Biscuits Cafe. The food... read more

This is the best place around especially for breakfast. Kin, the district manager is awesome. Jill the waitress is the best any where around. These two people make eating here a great experience we come from Salem just to eat here.

Their WiFi is useless and kept me from getting any service. Service was ok except the server didn't check on us but once and never refilled our waters. Same food as other locations.
