Amazing service, amazing value. Great portions, good comfort food! I come here when I've had a bad day, just to feel pampered. Best chicken fried steak in the world.

Delicious food and large portions. Excellent friendly service. Best breakfast we have had at the end of a 4 state road trip. Fueled up and all set for the 5 hour drive home.

If you are hungry and looking for something near I-5, this is a great place. Sunday morning rush and they got us in pretty quick and the food was warm, tasty and with generous portions. Their thick cut bacon makes their bacon and eggs, a home cooked bacon and eggs breakfast experience.

We went on a spur of the moment adventure out of Salem. Black Bear Diner always has great food, but the line was horrendous. There was a waiting list. Everybody was told it was a 45 minutes wait. I doubt they knew when anybody would be finished. I wouldn't go on a Sunday again, for real! There were people leaving because they waited too long. I was so grateful they left as we got our seats faster. My waitress was nice and was helping us and another table at the same time. She put the other couples drinks on our tabl... read more

Oh Black Bear, it hurts my heart that your quality in both food and service is so, so inconsistent. Today, both were so - so. Our favorite server / assistant manager was not there. The advertised chicken tortilla soup was delivered as Italian wedding soup. Somehow our clueless server didn't notice the lack of either chicken or tortilla strips or the presence of pasta and served it with a smile. I ordered the bbq brisket with some baby bear bbq sauce. The brisket came and no sauce. When I asked, she brought back some g... read more

I've been here a handful of times, and I've always been a fan of Black Bear in general. Good food, hearty portions at reasonable prices. Service is always good and you're seated quickly. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that the food consistency can be a bit hit or miss at times. Things undercooked/overcooked. Doesn't happen all the time, but it happens. I'm sure this comes with the territory when it comes to covering a larger area of customers.

Fruit! My wife and I each had the California Bacon Benedict. It came with very good hollandaise, great bacon and avocado. The hash browns were perfect. The entire place was very clean. We will go again because the food came hot and quick and the service was great. It reminded me of Elmer's while we were growing up.
