Not our first time eating at a Black Bear, but first time to this one. First and foremost, this is a new restaurant - open about five weeks - meaning it takes time to get everything and everybody up to speed, sync'd, and efficient. We were greeted with an expected wait of 30 minutes, but got seated immediately after agreeing to take counter seats. We found this Black Bear to be spacious, more quiet than one would expect, and comfortable, though the wooden seats are on the stiff side. Our wait-person was cheery, smilin... read more

This establishment opened recently and based off of the number of cars in the parking lot, often appears to fairly busy. My wife and I stopped by one afternoon for a late lunch. The service was efficient, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had steak and eggs. The New York strip was thick, juicy and cooked precisely how I ordered it. The hash browns were crispy on the top and tender underneath. My wife ordered chicken fried chicken, she enjoyed it. For a chain diner, this is one of the better ones!

First the good, was noticed, and seated right away, food is good, fair priced, large portions. Now the bad, my salsa that came with my meal wasn't given until I found another server, ( ours went MIA), and the amount was pitifully small, like a large thimble, really. Couldn't get a refill on coffee, or water, couldn't find our server at all until check came. Meal wasn't good or bad enough to stand out, problabary won't return unless nothing else is available.

i ordered the 2 egg breakfast. I ordered the eggs over medium. the eggs were seriously undercooked. the potatoes weren't cooked. the bacon was barely cooked . Hubby had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were not buttermilk biscuits- more like a dinner biscuit. The gravy was flavorless. Really was a big disappointment

There were 3 in my party. One ordered corn beef hash, one ordered an omelette and I had 2 eggs, biscuit and hash browns. The only food that was warm when served was the corn beef hash. Cold biscuit and cold hash browns were a real downer. But the biggest surprise was how grumpy the waiter was. Clearly having an off day. The Newberg black bear is better.

I've come here a few times and I am done.... first we had to wait 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The club sandwich I ordered was cold, the fry's were cold ... the waiter only came to the table once to bring the food... I don't understand how they can be in business anymore.... terrible service,. terrible cold food.

The pancakes and waffles were great. The chicken and waffles was a waste it's not fried chicken but instead frozen chicken stripes. The milkshake was great. Chicken avocado sub was decent. The BAD, The food took over 20 minuets for an empty Tuesday afternoon, the wrong club was brought out to my wife and the waiter came back 5 minuets later to take it back after she had taken a few bites and was brought the right food. My scrambled eggs and cheese came out when I was already done with my food and the cheese wasn't not cooke... read more
