In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm ... read more

Black Bear is always a good choice for any meal. I have never been disappointed by my food from here. I have had issues sure, but nothing that would prevent me from going back, just the typical occasionally getting a server who is slow at filling drinks.

Having eaten in several Bear locations- including the first one in the state. My lower rating is not related to food quality or service. Both are better than early days. Nice surroundings, but Utah people will eat anything anywhere! Think of Sharon's, Over The Counter...Drive-Ins , Dives, and the rest. Menu prices on most items are way more money than they are worth. Very simple. Some Bear manager should have breakfast at the Sunshine in NSL. First, look at the menu, look at the prices, order, and watch the huge servings ... read more

Decided to try a new place for breakfast. It wasn't anything special and I'm not sure I'd go back. Here's a rundown on things: Service: Our server was polite and attentive but not overly personable. The server next to our table was a bit over the top. I think somewhere between these two would be a perfect mix. Food: Our food was served in a timely manner and cooked as ordered. I had the corned beef hash with eggs over medium and a pancake. The hash was really oily and lacked the depth of flavor I want from this type of ... read more

After eating here I'd be sure to come back for more! I ordered the juevos rancheros, something I usually get when I'm trying local breakfast diners. At Black Bear, the plate came loaded, but what surprised me wasnt the portions but more so the taste. I was first surprised by a hard tortilla shell vs a soft tortilla shell, gave the meal a whole new texture and way of eating. The country potatoes I ordered(hashbrowns is your other option) were cooked and seasoned to perfection! Its best to just mix everything together so you... read more
