I found big eggshells in my omelet and showed them to the server. She told me they use egg mix and even mentioned that her husband had experienced the same issue before. I was a little upset but decided to try eating the omelet again. Then, I found another eggshell. I told the server, but she didn't do anything about it. Hamburger was overcooked. It seems like they are precooked and then cooked again. Impossible to get one medium rare. It was 30 minutes from the time I sat down to the time I got my food. By the time I was served, I was the only customer and I still had to play hide and seek with the waitress. Black Bear Diner has always been a favorite of mine but not in Yucca Valley.

The chicken fried steak was deep fried with the same oil of shrimp, mashed potatoes were cold as well as the gravy. The good part of the dinner was green beans, ice water and the fact they didn't charge us for my meal. Server and host were nice.

Zero quality control or care in preparation. Just received a taco salad and it's missing half the ingredients. That's $30 straight to the trash. I won't be ordering from them again.

Food sucks. Service sucks. 10/10 do NOT recommend this place! We were so excited to have this place open up in Yucca. We've been here 3 times. We won't be back.

We got our wrong order multiple times. Asked for water when we got seated. Got our water 5 min after we got our receipt and we're done with our food. Food was way too overcooked and burned. We got coffee with the option to refill and were never asked if we needed more coffee and when asked they never brought it to us. Service was not there. And food quality wasn't there either. Very disappointed.

11/19/2024. Ok, this is 8 months after my last horrific visits to Black Bear in Yucca Valley and I was hopeful it had gotten better. WRONG! We got there a few minutes after 6pm and there was no one at the register, we weren't acknowledged by anyone, so we stepped further into the restaurant and were told by a waitress across the restaurant that someone would 'be there shortly.' Ordered a hot open face turkey sandwich and it was disgusting. The turkey came cut up into tiny bite sized pieces and resembled dog food. When I informed the waiter that it's not supposed to look like that he did take it back though was upset with me. When I ordered something else after that was a simple side it took double the time to get it. I won't be back.

This isn't an indictment of the Black Bear Diner chain, but rather feedback on our poor experience at the Yucca Valley location. On Saturday, October 12th at 7:30 AM, we visited this location. The diner was empty, and no staff was visible when we entered. Liz eventually seated us and brought coffee, but then disappeared for about 10 minutes.
