My son and I recently took a father and son vacation/spring break visiting Joshua Tree and the Black Bear Diner became our go-to spot for amazing breakfast/brunches! From the second you walk in, you feel welcome. The staff is kind and the food is amazing (and generous)! My wife and I plan on returning to the area soon and this will be our spot too. We have had all good experiences here. We love breakfast, and for lunch or dinners, we grab the big Cobb salad. It's our favorite. Last we were there, our server was Sherri P. and she was excellent. Super attentive and rediculously nice.

I have been to Black Bear Diner in other locations before. The menu was more memorable than the foods because it looked exactly like a newspaper. Anyways, we ordered fried chicken steak, tri-tip, Joe's omelet, and The volcano. Originally, I wanted the corned beef hash, but the waitress came back and said they didnt have it. 12/12/2025, had a hamburger and fries around 1:30 pm. No ketchp, no placemat. I did not say anything. Been vomitting for quite a while. Fries tasted bad, looked like undercooked, over salted frozen fries. Tasted the overwhelming amount of salt. Came home feeling odd, tired, somewhat dizzy, nauseous. Went to lay down... We have been occasionally going to the Black Bear diner ever since it opened several years ago, and the experience has always been disappointing. This should be the nicest diner in town and it should be busy. It's a beautiful building and the interior is great, so what's the problem? First of all, what's with the B grade in the window? So I love black bear dinner it's great. But this location in yucca valley was dirty. I added this photo for reference. There were sweet potatoes and spoons on the floor close by and where I was eating. But the service was great and so was the food as much a place like this can be. I think it really was dirty though because the young staff weren't working it seemed and the server and the food runner were in there late 40s early 50s while the rest of the servers were like in there 20s just standing around. Order a tri-tip dinner, they told me that they ran out of mashed potatoes would I rather have a baked potato I said yes, they brought my order, gave me Green Beans. I asked for broccoli, took 10 minutes to get my broccoli, they brought my baked potato. No butter. We were only the third couple in house, steam broccoli had some kind of like cottage cheese between florets toward inside of stem. Lost my appetite cut my dinner up give to my dog.

You should really have a split check balance max of 4 cards. Waited almost 25 minutes to pay while this poor waitress split up the check for a group of 10 clowns
