I would have hoped that an Open Table generated reservation would give us a chance at a booth or a good table. Instead, we were stuffed into a small table right at a waiter's station. The service was a good as could be expected in cramped quarters, but it was not a particularly pleasant experience. The only upscale aspect was the bill. This is not worth the prices charged, especially at concert time. There are other nearby locations with much better ambiance for less money.
The restaurant was like a zoo, all tables were too tightly squeezed and the waiters were walking back and forth in a frenzy. After our first course, it took them 40 minutes to bring our pizza. We will never go back there.
Pre-theater on Saturday night is like being in the subway--hordes of people, all pushing. Pizzas and antipastos are fine; everything else (including tasteless pastas) wretched. They do get you out on time, though.
This is our third visit to Cafe Fiorello. Our visit on 1/13/13 was disappointing. We arrived at 7:30 pm and were promptly seated. At the time of placing our order we were informed that there was no lasagna which is their signature dish.
This used to be one of my favorite places to go to in NYC when I arrived. This time the bread was burnt, profiteroles were dry and the food was just fair. If they changed cooks they might want to consider a change again. I ate here 2 nights because someone else took me and both experiences were pretty poor. The service is great and the staff are incredibly engaging. If I had a choice again i'd go around the corner to Gabriel's. which is much better
Something was broken in the kitchen and they couldn't make a number of different things from the menu. I understand these things happen but we should have been notified before we even sat down and ordered food. The food we did get was barely room temperature at best. Overall a terrible experience for a very expensive night. The staff was slow to respond and often forgot requests made.
Service was slow and not attentive. We waited 20 min for our cocktails which we could not consume because they were just watery. Please avoid the Bloody Mary, worst I have ever tasted. Food was ok, good size portion. Overpriced for what it is.
Fiorello has great food but is, very simply, TOO NOISY! It has always been this way so I don't know why I am complaining but apparently it does not bother most of the patrons. Conversation is essentially impossible, especially in the back areas. They should put aoustic tile on the ceiling but this would disturb the "ambience." DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU HOPE TO HAVE A CONVERSATION!
Poor service, and very noisy atmosphere ... but one of the few restaurants in the Lincoln Center area that accommodates late reservations.
