food just not great and tables to close together!!! squished
We went to Cafe Fiorello prior to attending a performance at Lincoln Center on Thursday evening. The place was packed and extremely noisy. Three of us ordered an entre apiece and shared. The portions were so small, if one order had not been a small pizza we would have left the restaurant hungry. The taste of the food was fine but the prices, however, were NOT.
The softshell crabs were MAGNIFICENT!!!! Served on a bed of black rice. I'd never had black rice before...I nearly licked the plate!!! One always gets a great meal at Cafe Fiorello!!!
Service very good. Nice outdoor seating. We all had brunch. The food was very poor. I would not eat there again. It is not very difficult to make eggs
The most awful experience ever!!! Noise was so deafening that we could not hear ourselves across the table. Food was un-edible for neither of us. Even though we paid in full and left food virtually untouched, no on asked anything is wrong - because mainly, no one came to our table to check. We just wanted to get out as fast as we can.
Although reservation was for 12 midnight, kitchen closes at 12:30 Many iems in the menu not available (they ran out of it). Poor programing.
Made reservation so I would have a table ready so I would not be late for the Opera. Table not ready, unable to eat before we had to leave for opera and the antipasta that we had time to order and eat was not good. Will not go back to the place again.
We've been to Cafe Fiorello many times and this is the first truly negative experience we had. Our waiter simply got everything wrong, repeatedly. Example: we each wanted a glass of Rose wine. He said there was only white or red. (American born Anglo--no language problem.) After bringing the wrong wine (a Spumanti), he argued that it was the only "rose" wine they had. The restaurant filled quickly after opening time because there was an early performance at the Metropolitan Opera across Broadway. The staff gave the general appearance of frustration and lack of organization. Our waiter didn't know he'd been assigned our table. Our reservation was for 10:30 a.m. and we didn't even have water offered to us by 10:50. To his credit, when our waiter appeared he was pleasant and competent.
