He was the on-call doctor after I had an endoscopy. Post-op, I was vomiting blood. He never returned my office calls so finally, the receptionist just sent me to ER. He never called or checked on me in the ER. He failed to do his job as the on-call doctor. I thought he was awful.

I am not sure about all of the positive reviews on here--which is why I initially chose to go to this doctor (despite having to wait 2 months for an appointment). I welcome directness in an MD, but she was dismissive and brash. There was no semblance of bedside manner. On a positive note, the rest of the staff was very friendly.

My entire experience with Capital Digestive Care and Dr. Howard specifically has been poor to this point. From numerous attempts to schedule an initial appointment to planning for an upcoming colonoscopy, everyone I have encountered has been extremely unhelpful. Dr. Howard was late for my appointment and dismissive of my symptoms but ultimately decided that I need a colonoscopy anyway. If I didn't have to pay the $150 cancellation fee, I would cancel it.

I had a pretty horrible experience with Dr. Stephenson. She was rude, didn't like answering questions as if she couldn't be bothered, dismissive of my concerns, and was all around horrible at the bedside. Obtaining informed consent for a procedure requires a conversation, a give and take, and she appears to take offense if she is asked questions about the risks of a procedure or complications as if it is expressing doubt as to her qualifications.

Brought in my 91 year old aunt who has been treated by gelfand for years. We had a 1pm apt and arrived at 1:10 and after checking in at the desk we were told because we were late the Dr would take the 1:15 patient.... so 15 minutes were all she was allowed. Ok. But the Dr called her back and said because we were late we would have to reschedule or do a phone call . It was upsetting to her and I could not believe it. Terrible way to treat patients!

Bedside manner was extremely improper, and definitely NOT trauma informed. Assumed I would be fine with an immediate invasive exam with NO prior info about what it would entail, and without even asking (just "now a nurse will do XYZ"). Recommended a course of treatment that doesn't have scientific backing to show that it works (FODMAP) and managed to make my visit about my (mid-journey) weight and not digestion. Not competent for eating disorder patients.

I have an appointment at 10:30. I get there at 10 as instructed for “paperwork”. I’m then told he in “meetings” until 10:30 and then he has quiet a few patients in front of me. So I asked the lady why nobody called me as clearly a meeting is scheduled. She does not know. Basically, me leaving work just to be told he is busy, let’s me know how important I am. So looking for a new doctor who does not have a god syndrome.

I have used DR Wootton for 20 years. He can do colon exams but is unable to diagnose anything more complex. He would come into appointments with no advance knowledge of even what meds I was taking, prescribed by him. I had hemoglobin counts less than half of normal and he had no interest. I had to make appointments with other doctors to receive proper care. He endangered my life, See another doctor other than Frank Wootton.

Business response:

We are sorry to hear you did not feel your needs were met during your visit. Patient care is our most important responsibility. While uncommon, it is occasionally necessary to recommend a different provider or treatment path if we feel we cannot fully meet the needs of a patient's clinical condition or diagnosis. We would be happy to speak with you directly if you would like to discuss your visit or share additional information.
