The decor is lovely and the food is very good. However, the service, on this my second visit to Chocolat, was poor. We waited more than a half hour for the food to arrive.
the waiter was horrendous- we waited upon being seated 45 minutes for drinks, his service was slow.
Nice but not great neighborhood restaurant. Bruch was a bit pricey for what was provided.
Long wait even with the reservation. Slow service once seated. Limited menu. Ran out of food. Brunch is not "brunch" it is a limited lunch with certain breakfast items. The food quality is okay, not the freshest. Really had high hopes for this restaurant but it's overpriced for what you actually get. Would not survive in midtown or downtown where there are more options. Won't last in Harlem for much longer with out making the necessary improvements either.
It was a nightmare beyond your wildest imagination. Spilt red wine from neighboring table, ruining clothes. Waited over one hour for entrees, they never appeared. Kept saying "they will be right out". - finally walked out and had pizza across the street at Bad Horse (which was amazing). Staff was friendly and apologetic, did not charge us for the food we had consumed but still something was awfully amiss.
Unfortunately, my experience was not great. I booked because of some great items on the online brunch menu but the restaurant offered a very limited menu for Mother's Day Brunch and most of the items that I looked forward to trying were not offered. The food was average and service was good.
The restaurant was beautiful and had a great ambiance to it. We got there late and the host was gracious enough to accomodate our party. However, the food left much to be desired. It was basically overpriced diner food. The only great thing about our experience were the mimosas.
I made reservations and was excited about my first experience dining at Chocolat. When we arrived we were happily greeted. Our seat was immediately next to the door which disrupted my view from experiencing any of the restaurant. We waited 20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. By that time we placed our full order but another 15 minutes passed before we ever received our drinks. Our appetizer came soon enough but still without our drinks. The place is beautiful, but the service was horrendous. What a shame!!! The food was ok but overpriced for what you are really getting at brunch.
