hello all, 2 months here well the apartment is nice , has a great kitchen , close to bart , you can get on the city in 15 . is feel safe here , even know the neighborhood is kind (*&*(^&*%&*%^ i pay $2030, a month ( i think with this amount i can get something better on lake merrit ) or jack london square - wahs and dryer is a + the girls on the office are helpful and really nice the building is new and very modern ! ++ look if you work all day like me on sf and just come home to cook , sleep , this is the perfect place , no... read more
This place is terrible. The fire alarm goes off at least once a month. We live a 5 minute walk away from the fire station, they take 15 minutes to get here. The staff here is horribly rude and can't be bothered to do their jobs. We have a resident community online forum, we are now censored so that only positive things appear on the forum. There are flies on every floor. Less than a year ago there was a fly infestation on the bottom floor and in open air areas, now they have made their way down the closed off hallways. Packa... read more
I have to lower my review to one star. The new management here is willfully dismissive of resident concerns. For example, the building alarms here go off at least once per week. They are incredibly loud and terrify children. There has never been a fire or an event to trigger the alarms. The reason why the go off is electronic but this issue has never been addressed by management. I have raised this issue on the internal building message board but management has now taken to removing any critical comments on the message board... read more
So here is how you increase your quality-of-life luxury quotient... (This is why you pay a premium rent bill...) Move into an apartment that gets really hot because there is no airflow on the ground floor... Prop the door open to get some air... But then you live in a street level loft... Is that safe in Oakland? (someone just got stabbed against the building two weekends ago for example)... And everyone seems to be smoking chronic/cloves outside within smell-shot... And just in case they run out of smokable material--there... read more
You can find a better place to live. The apartments are well appointed. But the place is not well maintained. There is no security. (No doorman or person on duty--strange for a "luxury" apartment building.) Thefts are commonplace. Packages are stolen. Alarms go off day and night several times a week. (Because there is no person on duty at night, they just blare on and on.) And they will charge you every fee they can think of and they are quite creative at that.
Have been living here for 9 months, on a 1 year lease. I'm planning to move-out in the summer, at the end of my lease, primarily due to Domain's plans to increase my rent "to market rates" (i.e. 10%, from $2,000 to $2,200) at the end of the term. Pro's * Clean, up-scale building in a convenient location * Close to 12th Street BART station and highways, as well as the Telegraph/Uptown and Jack London restaurant/bar scenes. * Tons of amenities: art gallery in the lobby, cafe with WiFi, well-ordered and secure mail room for pac... read more
After living here a year and having a less than positive move-out experience with these people, I'm downgrading the Domain from my last review. The heat finally got fixed (after I threatened to move and also called and complained to the Oakland City Council who had loaned Domain's developer $5 million to finish the abandoned apartment project). But halfway through my stay, the bathroom ceiling started to flood water at 2:00 a.m. in the morning. I mean it POURED water by the gallons - the sound woke me up. Although I called, ... read more
Domain is a beautiful building, however, the area is extremely shady (e.g. at night expect lots of noise and annoyance from the transvestite prostitutes on 14th) and the building stuff has steadily decreased in quality since the building opened. On top of this the rents charged in the building are out of line with reality. I had a two bedroom apartment (with two bathrooms) that was visually appealing and large (1200 sf), however, given the dangerous and loud nature of the neighborhood and the average (at best) quality of the... read more
I give it a five star based on my top requirements, which are: - cheaper then living in SF - proximity to BART - proximity to gym - proximity to downtown coffee shops, restaurants and bars (The Trappist!!!) Xtra's that make me feel lucky: - amenities that I use often (pool table, gym, free wi-fi lounges, sky lounge and nice outdoor areas for sunny days, areas, dog pee area, etc) - clean and modern design - free lattes - Beautiful walk to Bart every morning thru the Federal building - Having parties in the lounge instead of m... read more
