I recently moved into the Domain under it's new management team and this place is great! I appreciate the great customer service and professionalism from the office staff. They seem to go above and beyond any other apartment staff that I have experienced in the past. The maintenance crew is nice and friendly, I'm not waiting more that 24hrs for a response when there's problem... they are pretty on top of it. I'm very satisfied with my two bedroom apartment, when I moved in it was very clean and well kept. I'm on the 5th floo... read more
After living in the Domain for 2.5 months we decided to leave. They neglected to send us a rent bill with the full amount and charged us $100.00 overdue, which they also neglected to tell us all for .03 cents. Once they no longer let Julia or Brittany work with tenants it left Bonnie, Aja , and Fernando. The absolute worse service ever-so I thought . Then they sold the building to FPI management who then decides to make the rent $3200 dollars. Matthew and Meghan speak in circles and clearly try to misuse the landlord-tenant ... read more
You don't get what you pay for at the Domain in Oakland. My husband and I lived here for a year and after evacuating the apartment every few weeks in the middle of the night because of fire alarms, we decided to call it quits. Yes, we had a yoga studio in the building, but we also had hookers on our corner, crazy bums outside, and the notorious fire alarms. The building underwent a change in management and I was hopeful that things would get better. They screwed us with our deposit by charging us rent for days that we did ... read more
My job is taking me away from the area, so unfortunately I am ending lease at the Domain at the end of next month. (I'll update my review after my move out to share my experience with how that is handled) I've lived in the building for a year now. Here are my pro's and con's. Pro's: Location: Getting to and from BART is really easy, and very secure. Most of the time (unless it is after 11pm) you walk through the Government building, after walking through City Center which is well lit and has guards 24/7. I've never felt unsa... read more
The worst. Every good thing about these apartments is wiped away when the complete ineptitude of management and staff is factored in. I lived there for 1 year. Moved out on June 16, 2013, apartment C105. I'm still waiting for a refund for my initial deposit and it has been 3 MONTHS since move out. I'm beginning to doubt I'll ever get it back, which of course is illegal. And they've just changed ownership, so of course, new management has no idea what happened before they took over and is completely clueless and unwilling to ... read more
This building has fallen. I can proudly say at one point this apartment buildings was a fantastic place to live. It has in an instant fallen. The staff now left only cares about the bottom line and finding a huge profit. Safety, community and pride are no longer values of Domain. I was forced to move for many reason, the main reason was rent increase $1640 - $2100 and lost value in the amenities/location. I would recommend moving closer to Lake Merritt, Temescal, Berkeley or possible Jack London. If you are still here, live ... read more
Be warned: This place is going through MAJOR financial difficulties, and as a result, will pass it on to you. Not only will you have to deal with random fees and "accounting errors" from nearly a year ago, but they will nickle and dime you for everything you're worth upon move out. I am an owner of an apartment building in SF, so I'm well versed in tenant rights, but I feel bad for those who aren't... PS To those who complain about being charged for cleaning, that was your bad. They are required to clean, no matter how spotl... read more

This place is terrible. The fire alarm goes off at least once a month. We live a 5 minute walk away from the fire station, they take 15 minutes to get here. The staff here is horribly rude and can't be bothered to do their jobs. We have a resident community online forum, we are now censored so that only positive things appear on the forum. There are flies on every floor. Less than a year ago there was a fly infestation on the bottom floor and in open air areas, now they have made their way down the closed off hallways.
