Okay. This place has got me going back and forth with my review. INCONSISTENT management! It is very frustrating having to wait weeks or months for something to get fixed around here. Like I have said in my last review, we pay a huge amount of money to live here and we expect excellent management of the property and its tenants. I put in a request LAST YEAR in October about our tub not draining properly. We were out of town for almost 3 months and returned beginning of January only to come home to the same clogged up tub. Now that I've been here for almost 6 months, I've seen things change a bit. This place is moving in the right direction, and Mark Chapman the new community director is making moves to improve the place. It's not perfect, but it's getting better, and that's not insignificant.

I've lived here now going on 4 years. The staff is kind and professional, and helpful when issues arise. Stephen really takes care of business in a positive way. Mark is the calmest of all, he never lets things get under his skin, and handles issues very well. The premises are safe which important to me and very well located in the center of downtown Oakland. Maintenance people are well qualified if a problem arises and things get fixed immediately! Nice environment to live.

Apartments are clean but you hear every noise from upstairs and the smell of marijuana evenings means you have to keep all windows shut most of the time. Management do nothing to mitigate these problems after many complaints and maintenance never turn up to appointments - even after confirmed with front office staff. Seems the low reviews of this complex are not without merit.

As you can tell from how long I've had my Yelp account and how many reviews I've given, I only really write a review when I am really happy, or really upset. I moved into Domain in July '15, and wanted to wait a little while before writing my review to see if my feelings change any, and they haven't. Domain is absolutely amazing, obviously it's a bit pricy, but compare it to San Francisco not to other parts of Oakland. This is by far one of safest parts if not the safest part of Oakland. super duper in love with this place . first off you get free att wifi, even in your apt. the yoga classes and gym are also a plus. the valet trash is pretty cool for $7 a month you don't have to take your own trash out. they pick it up at your door everyday at 8pm . how cool is that ? the staff is very nice. Lester is very pet friendly, Kendell is super sweet , Steve is hilarious, and mark is way too cool. 5 stars for domain! Ps. Please keep candy in the lobby, even after Halloween is over. :)

What a nightmare. Give me my money back! Pages 8 and 9 of our lease... In section 29, it states, "Owner will mail Residents the security deposit refund (less lawful deductions) and an itemized accounting of any deductions NO LATER THAN 21 DAYS after surrender or abandonment, unless statutes provide others." Our move out date was 6/26/2015. Domain of FPI Management is in violation of the contract. Let me preface this by saying I'm not a resident of Domain, I do however spend 6-8 hours a day there working as a family manager. Over the last year I've had the opportunity to work closely with the leasing and maintenance staff at Domain Oakland. Julia, Stephen, Kendall are exemplary employees who make the leasing process painless and simple. They're friendly knowledgeable and accommodating. If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. 1) The management team is atrocious. There are a couple really nice people that work there, but they are the ones who do not have the authority to do anything at all. And anyone who does a good job usually doesn't last anyway. Mark Chatman is by far the worst manager of any facility I've encountered. He was non-responsive and downright incompetent.
