Depressing atmosphere unless locked in room Priced high for no "real" frills hotel. Good for having a place to sleep. Not much of a continental breakfast. More like a grab & go. Gym consisted of 3 pieces of equipment. Parking lot & hallways were filthy & littered with trash, but the room was surprisingly clean. The receptionist was available 25% of the time & only with a hard knock on the front counter, but was pleasant when she was available. Very Dirty, Shabby Condition Non-smoking rooms smell like smoke. Room had a plastic bag over the room's smoke detector and a cigarette butt in the kitchen sink. There are no kitchen utensils - that is extra. The sheets were extremely unclean - gross. Chairs were dirty, wouldn't sit on one. Mountains of trash in the stairwells. Obscene graffiti in the elevator. After viewing all of these conditions, we promptly checked out and found another hotel in the area.

Could you please wait for 30 or 40 minutes. My daughter and I flew into town late in the evening, picked up a rental car and drove over to our reserved room. Upon arrival the desk clerk informed me that their system was down and it would be a few minutes. So we went back out to the car and got our luggage. Awful. Nobody at Front Desk for Check In I arrived exhausted at 12:05 AM and there was a sign on the desk saying that the attendant had stepped away from the desk, but would return. Nobody ever showed up. I called Extended Stay America, they have another location one mile away. They could not transfer me to that one and my original reservation could not be refunded. Disgusting Check in was ok but when I went to see the room beds weren't made and it looked like someone just had sex on them. So I went back to the front desk and got a refund.

Bed bugs... I chose to stay here based on the great price and relative proximity to downtown Durham. Within a few days I noticed a rash developing over my body which I naively neglected to realize were bed bug bites. Otherwise the hotel was nice, but the fact that for the first time in my life I was bitten by bed bugs and subsequently had to worry about their transfer to my own home, would NEVER stay here again
